1 cm of lava spawned in my hellevator killing npc at the bottom (i had crystal for fast travel before i made teleporter)

and i was too scared to use teleporter cuz graves sometimes act wonky and jumped down hellevator

but i was in my fishing outfit without lucky horshoe and cuz i was tired and fishing for smth i didnt realise

and died to fall dmg

Ok, I don't do design, so to draw an example to art instead, it's like drawing in only black and white vs drawing with 8 different shades of grey. Like, could you do a cool drawing with just black and white? Yeah, for sure. And there are cool solutions to this (dithering, or alternating black and white pixels to make a "grey" looking gradient). But also, you could draw more realistic drawings with more shades of gray avaliable to you

I'm not saying extreme solutions are bad. But they do 1) require a lot more thinking 2) have more constraints in terms of how many solutions you can produce. It'd still be cool, but in my opinion- and you're free to disagree- is that if you had more options than the extreme scenario, it can motivate more creativity, too

But even in art this is usually true. Visual artists who do painting usually work with a limited color palette, and all the colors they come up are mixes from it, rejecting using new pigments. The results are great, just like using ebonstone painted gray.

its slightly better imo purely because there's one more color to look at
i suggest trying to add a base/roof/bracing every now and then
i feel like shit constantly reposting my build but its by far my best one and has some examples i hope. i feel the one that would help the most are the walls behind the staircase, note how i use different walls, especially with paint, to try and break up what would otherwise be a monotenous shaft of tiled green dungeon brick walls.

try using walls of different wood types painted brown, or some bricks painted brown (tiled pink dungeon bricks might do nicely)

built many item and mob farms in the past based on other ppls designs and a few of my own,

but i always felt the 'optimised' enemy farms were never truly optimised fully, or even well

so ive been staring at the wiki on artificial biomes and enemy spawning for hours today and creating my own farm from pure scratch

so far ive got a high dps kill chamber, 2 hot swappable biomes via changing a single block, (skyblock so desert and snow requirements drop from 1500 > 300)
2 different afk chambers, one will be for corruption/crimson and the other hallow, all other biomes will be accessible from either/or
a very fast way of moving the enemies from a single spawn platform into the kill chamber using teleporters and then hoiks, nothing escapes or jams so far
(gonna sort out enemies that go thru blocks still)
anti-biome mimic afk chambers (yoinked from khaios)

not sure how good this farm is gonna be, but i have hopes :3

biggest feature will probably be the hotswappable biomes... gonna have to manage platforms for enemies to spawn from too...

hotswapping into jungle will be h- nvm temple bricks.... mushroom will be hard tho hmmmmm

making hotswappable biomes of all the biomes isnt a problem if youre able to move a few blocks over

but to do it from stationary points.....

where mostly well timed super dart traps are constantly hitting just between i frames to damage enemies

(7 is supposedly the perfect amount for the i frames) (but idfk what im doing)

(7 is NOT the perfect amount you need a LOT to keep the damage flowing, and idk how to do that in a compact space so im just making a long line)

but honey straight up blocks the spawn and the game immediately moves on to the next spawn

you can see via the image im using lava and the max amount of dart traps useable in a space before they become inneffective due to i frames

still gotta see which traps do the most damage, might have to switch to spears
gonna have to figure out biome hot swapping and spawn platform swapping
and gonna try speed up the enemy delivery system and prevent less (although very temporary) slime jams

a good farm shouldn't need to be overly flexible

it should be able to function as good as it can with different parameters in place

if you can block swap the spawning area for a biome block and you still have the same rates as before, your farm is good
