i sometimes use stone slab walls tho, but not blocks

I'd suggeset using crimstone bricks, Iron bricks, sandstone/ebonstone bricks, and maybe some palladium here and there

you could try using walls to get a similar effect, though they do stick out the back so either use another wall or another layer of blocks

I wouldn't mind it if there wasn't a straight line texture between the blocks, and if they blended more like stone and dirt. Typically I'm not a fan of when they change how blending works because it invalidates a lot of old builds.

As for accent leaves? I can try but it took a lot of pushing from me to get accent slabs and I kind of feel like they wouldn't be super on board with me trying that again 🤣

Given how builds were worked around on how the leaves were separated at first, it really kicks you in on the changes.

We're trying to at least push an alternative and/or change to this because it seems an unwarranted thing since I did not see a single remark nor complaint about this. I would like to ask if they consulted frequent builders (including you) prior to making this change?

Even if they added the change now or later, it would've already invalidated a lot of builds because it would retain the connected texture. Similar to how Stone Slabs were made to connect.

Id suggest making a color pallet that u can use as a reference, trying to get nice gradients of color. Dungeon bricks have a lot of nice texture while being similar in color when painted.

Also for ruins, adding holes so the edge of the wall can flare out can help with blending.

I'd also be caseous on just randomly adding variations, you often want to add larger patches of variation around features, similarly to what you did around the vines.

I think walls in general just look more patchy than blocks, yours looks really good tho I like the wall change behind the vines almost as if they’re damaging the wall and affecting it

What could also make it less patchy is adding blocks of the same type but then actuating them after hammering them, stone works best as it’s the most jagged. If you look at the build of my mine you mentioned you’ll see anytime the background wall shifts from normal stone to the jagged broken wall, I have a layer of actuated stoke blocks to blend it
