It is the name of the nonfurniture, non beam block, of which there exists a foreground and background version, as most blocks in the game exist

Maybe you shouldve read the wiki page you linked before repeating "beams are furniture", even after I told you adamantite beams are not beams.

kick out the painter, replace all the floor except the tile you're standing on with platforms to make the place where you are the only valid home tile, have him move in again, make the floor solid again

figured it out like 5 seconds before you said this, funny coincidence
So uh I tried the the thing you just said a minute ago and It just made the housing invalid (pretty sure 1.4.5 is gonna make housing clearer so that's nice) and what I did is replace just the one wood tile with a platform beneath, (invalid), then I removed the staircase from the bed and the mana potion platform, and it placed the banner above it. Then I placed back the platform for the mana potion and it moved the banner on said platform but it's now close enough for him to realize the dryad is right there.

TLDR; housing is scuffed lol

replacing the whole floor instead of one tile wouldve prolly worked too cus I only removed the bed staircase later, no idea why those stairs make it invalid

i'd use the left side of the base, and build it in 2 sections: a hanging platform and a ladder/rope leading up to the left of the dryad's house
the big problem with this is that you'd have to redesign that hanging bridge to be partially made from platforms

I think the new dungeons variances will also make people lazy. As well as inspired.

The avg player doesn't even build (believe it or not). I think people will default live in the new dungwon simply because it looks better than what the avg player could build.
