this means a meteor has to fail to generate for it to happen, but it seems the wiki is not phrased correctly there

in any case, using a sundial or moondial will end a meteor shower instantly

putting a roof on your moon lord arena will also prevent that from happening

Depends on what you mean by best. In terms of raw DPS, yeah that's probably your best bet outside of maybe last prism. There still might be a place for, e.g., nebula blaze, just due to other factors like homing/ease of use

Kinda depends what else you have done in progression. If you've by chance done duke/empress/pumpkin moon/frost moon, the drops from those will be best. But if not, here's some options

Not necessarily, it's meant to give a lot of usable options but you can't use all of them at once anyway so don't need everything

If you're still struggling, my usual advice for bosses is making sure you're stacking enough defense and regen. That means reforge your accessories to warding, place arena buffs like campfires/heart lanterns/honey pools/bast statue, use food and potions like ironskin and regeneration. Depending on playstyle I'd also recommend you spec some accessories for defense as well, like a frozen shield or star veil.

For golem specifically, one option if you're really out of ideas is luring him out of the temple into a bigger arena. It's a bit cheesy but helps a lot. He won't enrage as long as it's still underground jungle. There are lots of ways to achieve this, one of the simplest is setting your spawn with a bed right below the arena and just recalling/using magic mirror after summoning the boss
