ok so the story behind that was that i was really sick one weekend and wanted something to distract myself for a bit, and i like making nice big gardens so i figured that's would be an ok project, so i took about 1½ hours and made a nice large jungle garden (this attached picture), then the next day i cam back and spend 1 hours to double it in size, and that's how i ended up with the big version that's the size of the temple

Terraria is a complex game, and it takes a long time to learn everything, and it's ok to take it in small steps
the Guide NPC is your best friend, he can tell you general goals to work towards and what you can craft with different materials
learn how to build housing and more helpful NPCs will join your little village as long as you have suitable free homes and you fulfil any other requirements they might have
always brings some platforms and/or rope with you to make exploration easier, at least until you get really good mobility accessories
explore the world, loot all chests you find, and remember to have fun! 🙂
