defence calculation for enemies remains the same among difficulties, it doesn't scale the same way as per players (an enemy with 50 def will always decrease damage taken by 25 IIRC)

You will get a new NPC to move in who you can buy a crafting station from which is used to make flasks, these flasks makes melee, or whip attacks deal debuffs like fire, or poison to the enemy.
