[o-col] Change object color

eternal scaffold
#

I imagine this would only affect the first color keyframes

wind cloak
#

I was gonna ask how would that work with keyframes

#

I’m not sure that’d be that useful

#

A slightly better idea that comes is mind is to change all all keyframes that have the same colour as the first kf

#

Keeping the opacity intact

#

Also, not sure if <object name> as a required argument makes sense to me, considering this is supposed to work on currently selected objects

#

Isn’t that only for search & select, where that is very specifically the purpose?

#

I hope I’m not coming off as mean, I’m not roasting your suggestion, I like it, just suggesting tweaks to make it better! ❤️

I wonder if, instead of changing the color of the first keyframe which I still believe should be a default multi-object editing thing, it could just set default object color into one of the 9 colors
Probably entirely different idea than op, but still would be interesting to see

#

that could be done by using prefab, no?

The would be great help in the example use case, the only problem with it I can see is only changing the first keyframe. Often you would have multiple keyframes for the same colour but different opacities for fade-ins and such.

this is example of acute need for color parenting😔

Having it be specific to color keyframes, and just the first one at that, is a bit weird if it does get added, I think
Like, wouldn't the logical questions asked by the general public be "why this specific case? Why not allow the first keyframe of every category?", which then will probably followed by "What purpose would editing the first keyframe only give? Let us edit other keyframes too"
At which point, wouldn't it be better to just work on the multi-object editing?

wind cloak
#

Yeah

But yes, editing stuff from multiple objects, even if it's just a small thing like this is certainly going to be useful, I'll take that over the current state any time

#

I'd like to propose an idea; can we specify which keyframe somehow? Like, default to first keyframe, or specify it to be the last keyframe, or the n-th from first/last keyframe (if even possible)?

#

i guess you can just specify <key-index>

#

if some object doesn't have key with this index, object skips

Pidge if you’re reading this and need ideas for how to implement multi-colour-kf panel, I think a good way could be to have something like this:

#

Imagine there are 9 swatches, not 6

#

If you select ‘exact’ then a second set of swatches is revealed below the switch, letting you choose what colours to replace with a new colour
