the skybox only shows in inspect view,
I want to see it in normal camera mode, via changing camera pitch in panorama
I tried the prefab skybox_demo.vmap
not sure what's missing, but it only crashed
any idea about this?
I searched the history, man here successfully changed the skybox with that prefab,
but it was already seven years ago
not known if valve broke some functions

it used to work (use special half-sphere model with skybox material attached to it, but inverted) but I think that functionality was removed by Valve

unfortunately I don't have any videos of the skybox in this form. they are lost to time 😢
it used to be that skybox would show in non-showcase mode but sometime between 2015-2017 they changed this functionality to only work in showcase mode and never made any effort to re-introduce that functionality outside of showcase mode. I'm not sure in what state skyboxes are now but they are probably the same since 2017
