#Map takes forever to build?

Try restart dota before building map in hammer and check building log. It may print critical error without any notification about it
Not long ago if you used more than one prefab hammer will never finish compilation of map and complain about access violation (it might be fixed or no, no idea)
not sure how long your forever is but building the map can take a while
if your forever is like, 1-2 minutes then yeah thats normal
of course it also depends on your machine
Well, its like more than 30 mins
Thanks, Ill try it out
It gives me this message "OK: 50 compiled, 0 failed, 1 skipped, 0m:20s". However, its still always stuck on "building" with the progress bar showing and the game doesnt start in the client.
It could be. I haven't tried the workshop tools before the update. I should mention that restarting dota doesn't work. The assest editor and hammer auto-close when you close dota.
I asked a friend to create and run any map and he did it it successfully
Did you do anything with your custom game before it crashed?
Also, I tried to create new addon and run it. I got the same problem with infinity build
I asked my friend to build and compare his and mine build logs.
I found this message on HIS logs:
Hammer: Copying compiled map to game directory.
From: C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Temp\valve\hammermapbuild\game\dota_addons\<Custom game>\maps\template_map.vpk
To: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\game\dota_addons\<Custom game>\maps\template_map.vpk
End build: 2024-06-02T18:29:42, elapsed time Hammer: Loading map in engine.
When I found this file in temp directory on my PC and copied it, the map is successfully runned (run skip build)
U can you use this crunch to run your map.
But I still uderstand, why dota dont do this on my PC...
Maybe a hardware issue where one of your components, CPU or whatever, doesn't work properly with Dota? Hard to say
Well, maybe that's the issue. Try uninstalling Dota and make sure the entire folder is removed
I do this 3 times, but this doesn't work
What's you PC's username? Is it spelled by english character only?
Maybe it's a permission issue? try run workshop tool in game folder dota2cfg.exe with administrator
yes, only eng chars without whitespaces
