#How do I fix?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
emerge-webrsync
guessing the (ch) is your chroot ps1?
yeah
first time installing
so
I had some errors but fixed em
expect this one
it's taking forever lol
it took 1 hour to troubleshoot last error
Hmm I've not seen that error before
Does emerge --sync throw the same? As I understand it, webrsync is just an alternate version of that command
lemme try that
nice for half-set up networks or if you're low on bandwidth
run that command?
This is why we ask for the whole error, as text. The important part is at the top in this instance
ok
yeah, cat will just show you what's in the file
It says that you have a syntax error
line 18
shows what I did earlier
no quote
Certainly
I don't understand the question. You edit it how you would edit any other file. nano, vi, vim, ed, pipe it to sed,
to edit to have the quote I forgot the command my dumbahh
to edit the use
and makeopts
not the use
With the greatest of respect, gentoo requires quite a lot of editing of text files. You should have that worked out
vi /etc/portage/make.conf make your edits and save 🤷
use nano
Yes, the options must be strings, so inside quotes
Just how you would set any variable in a shell script
make.conf is the mother file to your entire gentoo install
if it is not correct then expect nothing to work at all
If it's not throwing errors then it's working
No more syntax errors in make.conf at least!
Are you feeling systemd'y or openrc'y today?
is project good
openrx
openrc
google says it's lightweight
so I will use that
is desktop openrc
I'll stay with systemd
huh?
I can't decide for you
You've probs used systemd before so if you're unsure pick that. If you want to explore something new, choose openrc 🤷
post the output of it, and upload /var/log/Xorg.0.log with wgetpaste
