#

@bitter stream btw

#

two things

#

fix your locale :D

#

run this:

#
sudo sh -c "cat > /etc/locale.gen" << EOF
# /etc/locale.gen: list all of the locales you want to have on your system.
# See the locale.gen(5) man page for more details.
#
# The format of each line:
# <locale name> <charset>
#
# Where <locale name> starts with a name as found in /usr/share/i18n/locales/.
# It must be unique in the file as it is used as the key to locale variables.
# For non-default encodings, the <charset> is typically appended.
#
# Where <charset> is a charset located in /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/ (sans any
# suffix like ".gz").
#
# All blank lines and lines starting with # are ignored.
#
# For the default list of supported combinations, see the file:
# /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED
#
# Whenever glibc is emerged, the locales listed here will be automatically
# rebuilt for you. After updating this file, you can simply run `locale-gen`
# yourself instead of re-emerging glibc.

en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
EOF
#

then run

#

sudo locale-gen

#

then run sudo eselect locale set en_GB.utf8

why did he cheap out on rams

bitter stream
#

I wasnt using gentoo at the time when I built it, so I wasnt conscious on cpu + ram

#

I cared more about raw single core performance and GPU

#

fun fact I originally wanted a 5900x / 5950x instead of the 5800x. But at the time they were out of stock literally everywhere

What are the trade offs to consider of using this selinux?

#

Does it make an issue on software compatibility and how it differs to a normal profile.

#

I've been interested to any cybersecurity aspects so I want to consider to set this up soon

# lapis horizon What are the trade offs to consider of using this selinux?

The software u use needs to support it. If you frequently install and uninstall stuff - experimenting ect, SELinux probs isnt for you. SELinux is good for when you have a certain amount of programs installed and they dont change much/if at all. Otherwise its just gonna be a PITA. I would advise mapping out your attack vectors for your personal system configuration and determining which is most important to ur use case.

Is it stable or still on exp?

bitter stream
#

hmmm not too sure, I use custom profiles so I just combine different parts of different profiles so ive never touched the premade SELinux profiles

bitter stream
lapis horizon
#

Oh its okay to combine multiple profiles?

yeah :) its completely okay
