We don't know what you have/have not done. I would guess that not the full kernel source code is in /usr/src/linux on your system. What kernel ebuild did you install? Here's the official documentation for kernel https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Kernel

im using his tutorial because I thought it'd be easier, Im using the stage3-amd64-hardened-nomultilib-openrc20240317T170433Z kernel

as for my /usr/src/linux folder it's empty

You need to merge gentoo-sources(or one of the alternatives) if you want to build your own kernel

Pro tip don't follow video tutorials

The gentoo docs change very frequently so following an outdated tutorial may lead to a non functioning system
