i ran nmap -T4 -sn 192.168.100.1/8 as non root and now im curious what it actually did instead of doing host discovery on a local network which i expected it would do

your ISP will throttle you before you actually start pinging the web
if you had a perfect 1gbps upload you would need to spend days pinging the whole internt
but you won't be able to upload 1gbps constantly, and you'll get throttled most likely
