Retroarch problem

Whenever I try to run ps1 games on retroarch the screen freezes and i have to turn off the console

My bad for responding so late but the Sony Playstation (pcsx rearmed) core

I just tried to load the pepsiman file and it kicked me out to the homescreen

No worries. Do other games work? The 3DS can only support certain PS1 games due to limited hardware, try updating your core via the online updater in Retroarch, it could be an outdated version, maybe updating will help.

Ff7 does the same thing the pepsiman file did and the jojo fighting game says that it failed to load content. I'll see if I can update in retroarch and get back to you.

Ff7 should work relatively well to my knowledge, but the JoJo fighting game is known for not working correctly probably due to its high graphical demand for the 3DS

I tried to update the core but it said an exception occurred. Whenever I booted the system back up everything was fine though

If im being completely honest I don't think doing all of this is worth the effort of running half decent ps1 games. I have a psp lying around somewhere so I'll just mod that instead.
