Does hacking a 3DS remove all previous data?

I wanna hack a friend's 3DS but they have pictures that they want to keep. I’m using the 3ds.hacks.guide tutorial.

They don't have a SD card so the pictures are in the 3DS. Do I just get a new SD card and follow the tutorial or do I need to do something else before?

Also the SD card would be empty so how do I get the "Nintendo 3DS" file?

get a sd card and format it on ur pc to fat32 then put it in ur 3ds and turn it on and I suggest playing a game for like 5 minutes on it then go into the camera app and transfer the photos to the sd card
