This system can boot into safe mode and onto the sleep mode screen. I’ve updated it. If I try to boot to the home menu it freezes and if I move the screen it shuts off.

Yeah that's f000000b corruption, you'll have to do ntrboot
You might wanna fix the hinge issue first by reseating the top screen ribbon cables
Also inspect the ribbon cables for any damage

I am fairly certain it's a software issue since you're getting the shutdown menu, however I do recommend reseating the top screen ribbon cables before anything else just in case that changes anything
