#3ds not turning on
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
One of the ribbon cables is damaged or loose. Turn off wireless communications using the switch and see if it turns on
Idk what happened I inserted my SD card and it just became like this
And I tried what you just said still no effort
What happens if you turn it on without the SD card
It works my stuff just isn’t loaded
Update luma then try again
Did that and it’s still not turning on
Backup all files on your sd card then test it for corruption
Sorry for the very late reply
But the test was finished with no errors
What do I do?
Do you have a different sd card you can try?
Yes
What brand and size?
Sans disk and it’s a 32 gig micro SD
But I use an adapter
I also have just a sans disk 32 gig SD
Doesn't matter which you use
Put boot.firm and boot.3dsx on it then put it in your 3ds and turn it on
Still won’t work even with a change of SD cards
Shine a light into the sd card slot and see if it's dirty
If the sd card slot is clean do this with the old sd card (the one with all your files on it)
Insert your SD card into your computer
Navigate to Nintendo 3DS -> ID0 -> ID1 -> extdata -> 00000000
ID0 and ID1 are 32-character long folders
If you have multiple ID0/ID1 folders, do the following for all of them
Delete the corresponding folder for your region:
USA: 0000008f
EUR: 00000098
JPN: 00000082
KOR: 000000A9
Reinsert your SD card into your console
Power on your console
I tried this and while luma did boot my stuff on my SD card didn’t load
Is your sd card inserted?
Yes and the lock isn’t on (this is another SD card that I bought to see if it tried to work but it didn’t)
Is boot.firm and boot.3dsx on the root of the sd card?
Your 3ds isn't reading the sd card
They yellow text at the bottom says it's booting from ctrnand, it should be booting from the sd card
Considering you said the test finished with no errors I think there's something wrong with your sd card slot
Was there any dirt?
I can probably shine a picture to see
Let me try
Yes
I see a huge chunk of dirt down in the slot
How am I supposed to get that out?
A can of compressed air should be safe, but definitely make sure with others first.
In your 3rd pic though, when you zoom in, you can see the little dust bunny in there. I have a feeling it is messing with your cards contact to the reader.
Yeah, compressed air is safe
But make sure you hold it a few cm away from the slot
Thing is I can barely see the contact readers, which isn't normal
For comparison
Yea it doesn’t look great in there compared to what it should
Same orientation, also a 3dsxl
it's soldered on
Not that hard to replace but most people don't have a soldering iron laying around
Like a literal can of air?
How am i supposed to get that
It’s something you can pick up at Walmart target etc
Go to the electronics section and ask for a can of compressed air, they will know exactly what you are looking for
Just looking for a can like this
Actual soldering, or can it be done with a hot air station? Like some hdmi ports.
take out sd card
and then whilst its loading
put the sd card back in
works like a charm
Actual soldering
Since you're swapping the old sd card slot for a new one
Bro ts is not working 😭
🥲
Rip?
In that 3rd pic zoomed in I can see some bent pins in the reader too
Maybe you could use a flash cart instead?
Yeah those pins are absolutely cooked
Fuck
What’s a flash cart
And how do I use it
I just need a solution to last me to the end of April
So I can get another one
I’m not super familiar with 3ds flash carts, just regular ds ones, but it’s basically a dummy cartridge with a micro sd card slot in it.
Also, you could just pick up like one or two physical games to play for a month or so?
I know but most of them are Pokémon and I want to have the ability to edit the save files
If I actually did have that power I wouldn’t be here
Like at all
Plus my beloved digital DS games don’t work because twilight menu is cooked
Meaning I’m cooked
But hey this idea isn’t bad
Would I actually work tho?
Uh
If you open up your SD card slot and shine a light into it, you should see a little prong. Lift that up a little with something like a paper clip. Don't lift it up too much or it could potentially break off. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace your SD card slot.
I'll give you a picture for reference in a few
