I understand what piracy means, it means illegally obtaining software or license that costs money. But how in the hell is Netpass even considered piracy??? It’s not stealing money or whatever, it functions the same way as streetpass except it communicates over the internet, and Nintendo abandoned the 3DS a month ago, it’s not like they will do anything
#How is Netpass considered Piracy?

I heard people complaining that they got banned on r/3DS reddit for “piracy” which is Netpass
netpass is not piracy so I dont know why that would be happening on the subreddit
It isn't piracy, hence being in universal updater
And Nintendo has streetpass relay until March 2018, for streetpass over internet
Homepass used that official server
Netpass is the kind of thing I was aiming for with streetpass 2, but couldn't get people with the right skill set assembled
there have been some people being banned for talking about pretendo on the subreddit as well
Might be some weird automod thing
A lot has been breaking for moderator toolbox and stuff
Don't know
Moderating on old reddit became difficult around summer 2022 for me
A lot of tools broke with changes, they broke removal reasons for me on old reddit
I was never able to get help getting a fix, the reasons kind of worked on new
iirc xditto said its against reddit tos so hes been banning people talking about revival services
Except wiimfi has been accepted for a decade
And streetpass 2 and homepass had threads on the sub
I found homepass via the 3ds subreddit a decade ago
so people shouldnt be banned for talking about pretendo and netpass? right?
It's not copyrighted data distribution
It's part of the standard stuff from the hacking guide
Universal updater apps are curated and pass the legality checks
ill talk to XDitto about it then
Ps2 subreddit allows the unofficial game servers set up about a decade ago
Ds and wii replacement service has flown for a decade
Calling it piracy is outright wrong
I don't even know how anyone considers service revivals as "piracy"
That's not eShop related
My question got removed just because it was a question
