Either some failed component that isn’t allowing to boot (like a possibly damaged screen ribbon cable) or a totally dead NAND

Okay, then I’d say it’s more likely the board is dead. If the screens are disconnected/cable is broken so there’s no connection, it simply just will refuse to stay on and make an audible pop sound

I can’t imagine what else it could be. If the screen is damaged and power is provided, it would get past the initial power on test and have the Wi-Fi on along with audio most likely

Wi-Fi and audio are completely absent, yes?

And the fact they are not modded rules out the recovery options via homebrew

Not sure what there is left to think. From the near 100s of consoles I’ve worked with, I have seen this once and not any part combination ever fixed it

I guess it’s possible it is the Wi-Fi card if there’s no signal. I would suggest replacing that before any battery/we decide that it’s totally dead

decided to look up "dead motherboard 3ds" and saw similar situations; specifically the blue light taking 10 seconds or longer to turn off after pressing the power button

Hey, so I’m having this same problem on my 3ds xl and I was wondering if it is worth it to send the 3ds to Nintendo or is it possible to still recover the data by putting the sd card in a different 3ds?
