SD microcard adapter not inserting fully in my 3DS

Hey guys! So I purchased a microcard with an adapter today in the hopes to purchase some games before the e-shop closes. However, it seems the adapter won’t go in fully. I can’t close the flap nor will it click in. I checked the slot itself and seemed free from blockage.

I believe this may be either the adapter is too big or (more worryingly) a problem with the 3DS itself, but I’m not quite sure. I know when I first purchased it, the cashier put random games in to show that it worked and sometimes it would have trouble reading the game cartridge. Not sure if that detail helps but I’d figure I’d mention it!

Now it’s saying sd card software can’t be detected which I assumed would happen because it’s a 128gb. Which after joining this server, I learned it needs to be formatted via a pc - a pc to which I don’t have

So I’ll have to find a 32 but thanks for the help!
