once i accidentally saved a bunch of ducklings from one that was stalking them because i didnt see it

canon 90D and 135 mm lens with crop, the image was processed through PIPP and stacked with AutoStakkert from 100 frames, then edited in Photoshop

sadly here they are poached for retail to be house plants

luckily these ones are untouched

plant poaching is a weird thing to hear of but it happens

flytraps are cool, apart from being a carnivorous plant, in a way they are fireproof, as the habitat they live in along with these woodpeckers are used to fires, as like redwood forests in california they are a necessity for longleaf pines, venus flytrap roots grow deep down enough to where the fire cannot reach them, allowing them to regrow without issue

here is a red-cockaded woodpecker nest cavity, you can tell as it's covered in sap which is used to deter snakes and other tree climbing predators

actually almost got a good photo of one but it saw me last minute before landing on the branch and maneuvered to another tree

kingfishers are notoriously skittish and a photographer's nightmare to get a photo of because of this
