Some small hotfixes today, and a huge reminder for Santa to never code at night:

• Tired of your highscore? It's too negative for your festive mood? Use !reset and start at zero!
• "Wait, you have the badge? Where's mine?" Well, Santa coded at night, with a wonky math that gave everyone a bit too many points at once. It's now fixed, with proper maths! Get 25.000.000.000 for the badge!
• Chimneys should be chimneys, not ghost floors around the flippers. Fixed the issue where some chimneys could be collected without actually touching them.
• Blink! Boink! Badummmmm. Have you turned the music on? Enjoy the cute Chimneeeey voices!

Not fixed:

• Sometimes you'll get a negative score on the screen, that's because of Lua limitations. The score on the highscore as well as on the chatMessage is the actual score. This is on the to-do list.

My guess is that it is to avoid displaying too large numbers (idk actually)
The fact that it switches to negative makes any new point gain actually reduce the number displayed, but in the background all the points you get are added together to make the final score

that happens because underneath the art there is the map layout, and the layout for that star element is a circle. circles can make a flat collision spot for the mouse if they are big enough. so basically the mouse, if it doesn't have enough speed, it can land perfectly on that somewhat flat surface and just stay there

Some players prefer simple events and some prefer more complex ones, so we try to make a fair amount of both just so everyone is happy.
The idea behind this lua event is simple yet pretty satisfying when a run flows nicely, a very little amount of people worked on its development/gameplay but we spent countless (believe me), countless hours on the development, art, map making, testing and bug-finding. Sometimes, lua limitations don't let us squeeze our creativity as much as we would like but we do try to release the best final product for you guys to have something different and fun to play, any feedback written respectfully is really welcome as it helps us see what you guys would like to see in the future!

This said, I'm personally curious to know: what type of lua events do you guys enjoy the most? What kind of mechanics you find more enjoyable and why?

my favorite lua event ever was The Unknown so I really like stuff with lore

I also don't think every event needs to be super complex or filled with enigmas. I like the simplicty of the past two luas and think they're a good break from longer, grindier events

(this one is purely based on luck which can be a bit frustrating because of the lack of control, but it's very fun to bounce around)

i agree with that aspect, but keep in mind that this event was the first the event squad has done in a quite long time and the team that worked on it was also quite reduced due to some inactivity internally in the team. im glad this lua got to get launched when it was supposed to launch

and yeah, it is true that it can be monotonous but we tried our best to make the gameplay as entretaining as possible even if on the player side the "inputs" you had to press weren't as many or as interesting

for example, i was in charge of making the layout of 2 maps along with Zetdey, and we tried our best to test the maps and make them flow in a special way for each run and i think we got a nice result even if the general gameplay can be simple

for sure and i’m glad we got something to tide us over until the official christmas one rather than nothing at all, so thank you for that

just for me personally it wasn’t very interesting

that being said the artwork is gorgeous so props to whoever designed that

As much as I like lua as well, I don't want the game to go back to something similar to 2022. It's not even a complaint about events themselves, but I do enjoy having breaks and doing one event at a time. I get people enjoy events, there's always people asking for them, but there's also a part of community that prefer not to be overflown by them. People might disagree with me, and that's their right. I just wanted to share my perspective. As for this lua, sure it was simple, but I personally like them that way and it was fun to do. It would be one I wouldn't mind repeating

There’s 20 relics in red and 10 in green. On paper red gets u more relics based on the number of relics available however both gift box has 3% chances of getting relics based from the event wiki 🤷‍♂️
