likely just not aligned right. when both pins are correct, it snaps shut on its own.

does it click and hold in place when opened?
Yes, it clicks in the other end and stays open. So it's just when i am closing it, that i cant feel the clamp at the bottom
I had to rotate one of the hinges a bit to get it out from the old SP, so that could be the problem. Or; the guide i followed inserted the hinges in closed position, and opened it halvway to let then pop in position, is that the right method?
I've followed what Jake Simmons suggests twice by now (same set of hinges though,) and both times that worked great for me.
I must have done something wrong when i tried to get out the hinge then. Is it easy to fix? Maybe easiest to buy a set of hinges and make the switch?
Why buy something you already have? Remove the hinges and then install them correctly.
ye, maybe review the instructions again, then try your luck again, make sure you good the two sides not mixed up (but I don't personally know if that even matters.) It's likely it'll fall into place right that time.
Yeh, just a bit concerned to damage the hinge when removing it
https://www.printables.com/model/390743-gba-sp-hinge-removal-tool - Does anyone have experience with this?
Not these ones in particular but same kind, what's your question ?
If a tool like this would work well, or if it is better to just use a screwdriver
In my limited experience, I've liked using a wooden (bamboo, one-use) chopstick to bend in the tabs, just so to be extra gentle.
... But then I didn't bother making a thinner tool to push the whole hinges out with (in between the tabs), still just used my tri point screwdriver for that last part.
When someone creates a tool for a job, it usually means it is better than a pointy stick 😄
Yes it's better than a screwdriver : it won't scratch the shell, and it will push the tabs inward
I have four of those 3d printed hinge tools, they work pretty good.
I will try to make those and test them then🥳
Yes, i wanted silver shell, but it is difficult to get those in good quality. I bought the best quality shell Zedlabs could recommend
I am considering now to get another shell in really good quality and do a new mod later on. I also did a mod earlier with a Kyogre shell from hispeedido, and i think that one had better quality.
Think that has to be the issue then. Couldnt find any Silver shell from Hispeedido ord ExtremeRate, at least when i checked last time
Could be tempted to do a new mod later then🤣 Worked perfectly with my Kyogre Hispeedido shell. Silver shell is very nostalgic to me, since i had that in my childhood.
$30 for a full kit isnt that bad tbf
I have picked up my other modded sp that i gave to my father, wich has hispeedido shell, and the quality on that shell is much better in my opinion. So i think that concludes it. Bought my silver shell from zedlabs
