hey mates i just opened my gba for the first time i had bought a gba ips v3 laminated. Had some issues with the switch but isoprop fixed it.
Now im having some issue because this whoever genius did this, has made the second screw (on the dpad side) screwing to nothingness he just put a plastic thing and trapped the screw and it doesn't do anything.
So when im playing pokemon sometimes the running stops for a moment (i think the dpad pushes back the board a bit and loses conduct.

We're gonna need pictures of the board and shell
And also let us know which screw has stripped. 7
If you take the rear shell off and push the dpad buttons, can you see or feel the PCB moving away from the front shell?
If I do that it happens yes, The only support it has is the rear shell
Just woke up I will reopen it soon
If the internal screws don't hold the PCB against the front shell securely then replace the shell.
My fear is for removing the screen it’s a laminated IPs v3 can I remove it ? What would I need to do
You don't need to remove the screen to disconnect it
To disconnect the screen from the shell ?
Btw this is the place the screw cap is missing from the front plate. This is a second plate I have
They are just stuck down with double sided tape, so you can loosen that with heat.
Use a thin plastic tool (guitar pick) to get under the lens once you've heated it up, and slide it around to cut the adhesive whilst it's soft. Don't twist or bend the screen and you'll be okay. You'll want to heat it up to the point where it's almost too hot to touch
It's also a lil bit of a pain and there are risks involved, let's not take that risk unless we actually need to remove the screen - which for now, we don't
from the board*
Okay I opened it I can see this is the shell just being broken now, you can see the blue shell on the screw on the board
You could try glueing the plastic stub back on if you didn't want to replace the shell?
thats a good idea didnt think that I could do that , but what about using the other screw that is unused ?
this one over here
I've seen OEM gameboy with only one screw on this side of the PCB, and it was all fine
What's keeping you from trying ?
nothing i just saw it
this might work
we did it lads, the stutter steps on pokemon stopped
thank you both for helping me out with this, wish you all a great day, finally my issues are gone
I tried to close the post but didnt do anything, if you can mark it as solved
