hey mates i just opened my gba for the first time i had bought a gba ips v3 laminated. Had some issues with the switch but isoprop fixed it.
Now im having some issue because this whoever genius did this, has made the second screw (on the dpad side) screwing to nothingness he just put a plastic thing and trapped the screw and it doesn't do anything.
So when im playing pokemon sometimes the running stops for a moment (i think the dpad pushes back the board a bit and loses conduct.

If you take the rear shell off and push the dpad buttons, can you see or feel the PCB moving away from the front shell?

You don't need to remove the screen to disconnect it

Use a thin plastic tool (guitar pick) to get under the lens once you've heated it up, and slide it around to cut the adhesive whilst it's soft. Don't twist or bend the screen and you'll be okay. You'll want to heat it up to the point where it's almost too hot to touch

It's also a lil bit of a pain and there are risks involved, let's not take that risk unless we actually need to remove the screen - which for now, we don't

You could try glueing the plastic stub back on if you didn't want to replace the shell?

I've seen OEM gameboy with only one screw on this side of the PCB, and it was all fine
What's keeping you from trying ?
