Hey everyone,

I’m working on this GBC and when I turn it on the screen displays this weird glitch. I’m wondering if all the mods are requiring too much voltage? The F1 fuse already shorted once and I had to replace it and it’s back to powering on. I’m froggulator and an upgraded power capacitor. The mods are button LEDs and the Froggo battery indicator. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is this a PCBWay frogulator?

This is an Etsy one. Although I was using the original dc board and I was having the same issue.

The fact that you popped F1 means you probably have a short somewhere. You should put the insulation film that came with the screen kit over the entire screen driver board

you mean covering the green board with the film?

Yes

Okay I tried that and still no luck. Also, the leds are staying on for a bit after shutting the console off.

I think I should also mention that I have had it work before but not sure how it happened and now I can't recreate it, so I think the screen itself isn't faulty.

Is the Game Boy working other than powering on? Do you get audio?

Yeah I get audio

It's always possible whatever popped the fuse, toasted the screen. Do you have another GBC motherboard you can test it with?

I think I do. I'll try it out

Test it without closing everything up if you can, so you can avoid accidentally shorting something while it's assembled

I tried it with another board and it worked just fine. Just looked back at when I bought the original board and it said the screen was bad but I tested it with another board and the screen was fine. I think the board I was using wouldn't work with any screen.

So I just used another board and finished up the build and it works! No idea why that original board has display issues.
