I received this FPGA FBC (see link at bottom) board on Saturday in a order for all the parts to build a custom gameboy. They sent me a board which has numerous problems. I switched the power switch on, noticed it was really stiff. Not much force in it I switch it off again and the stick for it breaks off. Now to test to see if it works I have to stick a tool in the power switch just to switch it.
Big deal I can repair that, but then I end up testing it, the screen seemed operational, as well as I/O of all dials and buttons being recognized, however the screen brightens and dims in sync with the flickering of the colors on the power LED. Then it dies. I almost plug it in to see if the battery was dead but I notice it was already really HOT. I checked and it was coming from an inductor (4R7, see pictures.) The speaker may be dysfunctional because of a fault in the current or voltage sent to it. Or it could be the board in general. I really don't know there's no schematics or labeling on the board. All I know for sure is it gets hot, battery drains quickly, and the screen flashes with the LED. If anyone can tell me what they EVEN THINK could be an issue while I wait for support to respond in a few more days, I would really appreciate it. I'm hoping to get this board replaced because it's out of my league of electronic skills to remedy.

In the pictures if you can see the inductor has heat damage on it. Possibly the chip next to it heating up and being damaged as well too. I'm thinking it's something to do with the power supply not stepping down somewhere in its process.

I remember it was working absolutely fine for a bit, then it started getting hot and the issues with the inductor became apparent. The switch is broken off too, here's that for anyone interested lol.
