I haven't been playing on my GameBoy Color for a while and when I replace the batteries the screen flicker goes away.

I looked up online and I see that I need a new power regulator. Is this true?

Unlikely. You probably need to clean your power switch

Over time, carbon builds up on the power switch, which affects conductivity. This is super common and causes a wide range of issues, such as flickering

Cleaning it isn’t that hard but depends on your soldering ability. If you’re not comfortable doing it, you can either buy a soldering practice kit to get some more experience or see if there’s a cell phone repair shop near you that can open it up for you. If that fails, you may also be able to pay one of the verified modders to do it for you
