I bought this used GBA SP Mobo from FB marketplace for £10 it won't turn on at all I've put a battery in it I also noticed a few issues mainly the charge port is fucked up and has ripped pads there's also messy flux and solder and the game cartridge appears to be melted

It's almost certainly fixable, but it's gonna take quite a bit of work, just from a quick glance. Good starting point would be to clean off the burnt flux, remove the obvious solder bridges(like what I highlighted), then grab the schematic and start checking things out.

Can you link a schematic?

Schematic is for a specific revision, but most things should line up okay

Wait how do I fix the ripped pads for the chargers

Depends on what the real state is. You'll need to remove the charge port to properly assess the damage. Bodge wires might be necessary

I think I found why it won't turn on the switch looks fucked

looks like someone melted it

It would explain the cartridge slot

#

Is there a way to attempt to turn it on With out the switch

I've soldered a jumper wire between I think C2 and 2 for testing. That way it boots as soon as you connect it to a battery. Not sure how safe or advisable that is. Just something I've done in the past

Where is 2 located?

Ok I did that yesterday day but it didn't work but I think I know why now

#

The CPU pins are bridged

#

I don't have a solder wick rn

#

I don't even know if solder wick would even work

#

I got as much as I could off

#

Without the wick

Yeah that’ll do it. Use plenty of flux!

Ik it looks disgusting r. But I think I lifted the pad for C1 I was wondering if there another pad I could use

Ignore the charge port but anyways I tried removing all the solder but it still doesn't work
