Charging problem, random red light | Game Boy | Page 1

I have problem with red light randomly starting to flash (which can sometimes be fixed for a while with a bit of pressure applied to the back) and inconsistent charging (cable has to be put in a specific way and charging can suddenly stop).

I assume it has something to do with the power input and the battery. I wanted to know for sure what should I do, since I am not very experienced with electronics.

So far I have changed the bloated battery, put a piece of paper to hold the battery and cleaned the console. The lifetime has improved but not a lot. It is probably a very typical problem, so, I hope someone could help me.
