hi, i've got a custom gbc. it has nice buttons off retrogamerepairshop and everything worked flawlessly for awhile.

however, recently, my start and select buttons have become almost entirely unusable. they require very hard presses to work.

i don't know why this is suddenly an issue, everything seems fine on the inside... do i need to use an electronic cleaner? what is recommended..?

Could we get a picture? I know that some shells do have smaller openings and the start and select membrane are a tad too big.

might be hard to see the contacts well but i guess the start and select look a little bit dirtier than the rest? i dont know exactly what to get to clean them tho

Use some ipa and clean your start and select contacts

Does it feel hard to push the membranes down?

#

I’m assuming you bought new membranes?

it doesnt feel difficult to press the buttons down, and there was a point they worked perfectly

I use 99% isopropyl alcohol, but you could get away with ~90%. Also it looks like your wire going to your B via isn’t soldered

Have you check for any junk under the membranes? Dirt stuck to the membranes sometimes prevents the little pad to close the circuit. 🤔

perhaps the new rubber pads have lost conductivity? cjeck with the originals
