both are legit
USA, always flexing their FRAM Metroids
was fram metroid zero mission carts us only?
i assumed that would have been in a battery like pokemon rse
USA had both SRAM and FRAM, EUR had only SRAM
all my US Metroids are SRAM lol
I mean... I have yet to see a fake in that condition. Fakes are pristine because they were made in the last few years.
Wat else or wat part should I send, (other than the chip inside, because I don't know how to open it) for u to know if it's real or fake
And also the condition ain't that bad, considering this belongs to my childhood
You would need a gamebit driver. You can get one off amazon or aliexpress for a few bucks.
I live in Iran
There is no Amazon or AliExpress here
Oh.
Uh... I remember an old hack about a Biq pen
I have bic
It was basically heating up the end until it was soft, and then pressing it gently onto the screw so shape the plastic, like a mold.
Not ideal but it can work.
The downside is you risk burning the tip if its too earm, and the plastic fumes arent good for you. Plus potential burns to you and the cart
Its not as good as a proper gamebit driver, of course.
You know, that doesn't sound very good
I wouldn't mind burning myself
But the cart
You arent burning it so much as slightly meltong the plastic around the screw.
I don't really reccomend it but if you no other option, it does work.
If you simply look up "how to open game boy cart with pen" there are multiple videos and guides about this.
Again, not really recommended unless you have no other option.
Again
I can't
Government only gave a lil bit of access to internets
Damn
Ok.
Heat up the tip of the pen with a lighter or other heat source. It is starts to burn or smoke, stop.
You only need the first 5 millimeters soft.
Quickly place the heated tip into the screw hole on the back of the cart and hold it there for 20 to 30 seconds.
If you did it right, the plastic pen will have formed into the exact shape of the screw and become solid enough to allow you to turn the screw around.
Just be careful with the plastic once its hot. It can transfer heat to your skin very easily and burn you.
Just be careful, both for your hands and your game
I do have a fake cart
Maybe i shape the pen using that cart, then use the pen to open this cart
Good idea.
Sorry for offering advice you cant access, i forgot what it can be like in other parts of the world.
Good luck and good times
Looks legitimate to me
The button is green but my camera sucks
And
Is this a reshell
And is this fake (the game can save)
Console's a reshell, cart looks real
If you bought the console from CEX you should return it
This is real
Weird reshell with a probably legit serial
And then who should I buy a Gameboy off
You can still buy from CEX in general lol
They’re not gonna ban you from doing a valid return
Hi, I would like to buy a copy of Pokemon Emerauld CIB for my own collection and I found this one. But I really can't tell if it's real or fake
the fact that this https://www.buyretrogame.com/products/pokemon-emerald-version-cartridge-with-tray-box-manual-for-gba-game-boy-advance exists makes it really difficult to ascertain whether that is real or fake. The fakes also have the holo effect in the box, and the wrapping is something easy to get as well
oh wow didn't know that those are sold so easily. Thanks for your help, I think I'm going to pass this time lol
I'm not sure this is the case in north america but over here in EU, sealed games had a red branded nintendo pull tab to remove the blister
It’s not the case
fake
Yeah they’re either H Seam or
kinda regular wrap iirc?
I have a European game in that like generic seal wrap
Duel masters
I'd say all "Nintendo" games are all red lined but not all others... I don't remember the rule
If you are buying from ebay and they send you a fake, you can claim your money back
Have you pulled it off before?
I’ve only ever gotten partial refunds for defective remotes.
I did, but I use ze German eBay
Is the stamp all I should be looking for?
A fake Kirby's Dreamland in a damaged original box, after reaching out to the seller and getting a bad answer, I reach out to customer service and I got an immediate refund, and I kept the stuff
Check the pinned messages for all the hints
Nice, the box is more important
It depends on how many pictures they show and of what. But yeah generally you want to look for is that stamp, and also if they show pics of the mother board there are some tells
Cleaned
still has gunk in the crevices of the shell
I would be embarrassed to list something like that
You know what’s funny is that out of every image I posted I only bought that listing.
By crevices are we talking about the tiny specks of gunk on the game boy logo?
yeah. on the back too, there's just grime all over
You are correct.
New to gameboy collecting, is it just a bit of some toothbrush scrubbing?
I wouldn't use a toothbrush, just a microfiber cloth
I use distilled/deionized water from a little spray bottle
and then I have more serious chemicals for more serious gunk
Well I’ll definitely clean the front when it arrives, the back will depend on the condition, since I’m pretty sure I’ll be staring at the back on an SP if I remember correctly.
For example: this before/after was achieved with a microfiber cloth, hot running water, dish soap, and patience
Okay, that’s surprising.
What if you got scammed into buying an SP with red marker (possibly?) on the lid and you covered it up with a sticker?
(I can post a picture when I get home.)
heat, goof off, and maybe heptane. heat applied to the sticker will make it more likely to come off clean, then you can use small amounts of goof off to work out the marker
goof off is chemically similar to goo gone but it's a gel instead of an oil, which makes it vastly easier to work with and clean up
heptane is incredible at removing adhesives but you have to be careful with it on plastics
well, a lot of other stains will come off with goof off too
Well I’ll consider it, I might just buy a second SP sometime since my local stores price them pretty generously.
Thank you.
but just so we're save here: Keep all water away from the paper label. You can cause irreparable damage real quick there.
For people who are really skilled in paper repair, perrrrhaps, tiny amounts of water, but not the general public, no.
Thank you for reminding me.
I’ll just flip the cartridge upside down and hold it at an angle while I clean it.
Also no isopropyl alcohol or any other strong rubbing/cleaning alcohol.
It will slowly damage the old plastic for both cartridges and game boys.
in my experience alcohol typically damages plastic pretty quickly
Sorry, I had my liver mixed up with my Tetris cart for a sec, there
