#Sportsbike no.2

very loosely based off a pretty silver yamaha r1, but ofc this handles like a bus so I didn't post it as that
better handling prototype is being worked on idk
this one steers horribly but here's a vid and the internals (consist of 1 cart contraption dropped onto a ship)
aforementioned better handling prototype, handles infinitely better and include wheelies
I made them myself, here #1442765647217168515 message
realistically you want a mini engine that you can shove in the main, compartment. Mine here is just a single ship because I like mine having plenty of feedback and be responsive
suspension can be hidden by wrenching the wheels twice
note that since mine is a bit more extreme as it leans into the corner and requires some genuine countersteer to turn out of it, makes it feels better that's all.
the feature also takes a lot of effort in fine tuning the weight distribution and internal, I do not recommend trying out
How are some of you so good at detailing stuff
aerodynamically w/ control craft flap
You could try oleo wheel
of course, the principle stays the same, but it will be much harder to do the same in a tight space
it would, mine's just built differently
Peak
I was shocked at how this works but then It was just tournament thrusters
impressive
the thrusters are the easy part, making it behave like a bike is the hard part
rest of it is just spent on tuning and making it pretty
I consider tournament very survival unfriendly or atleast unbalanced idk if it has recipes
understandable
mhm
Voxy?
looks pretty, low overhead, fast, etc
https://modrinth.com/mod/disable-fog/versions
Disable terrain fog and enable sky fog in mod configs, enable vanilla fog in voxy
This fixed the sky banding issue
wat is voxy
So your sky looks good
LOD mod
I'm alright with the skybanding actually
makes the vid recording less grainy
oh nice
It does?
I mean it's a gradient
But it looks so much prettier with the sky fog
gradient moving around isn't great for bitrate no?
this one?
I don't think so since the sky doesn't move that much
Yes but the 1.20.1/1.21.1 versions are in a GitHub repo you need to compile yourself
💔
the camera moves the sky position relative to the recording so it kinda does idk haven't checked just general rule of thumb
Well they might crash the game since they are still unreleased versions, code will probably either unstable, broken or simply incomplete
updated ver with better handling thing from the newer chasis
lighter, better handling from more precise COM positioning
an impressive showcase in keeping things compact
fun climbing wheelie
its so chonkayy 💀
Nah it's a good port
Only thing broken is the fog due to atmospheric fog missing in 1.20.1
Although that can be fixed with the solution I gave
real
helm "stabilized"
yeah
that version drives like a boat, I did say that
what mod are the wheels from
This is so cool I want to make a bike now but with the wheels actually spinning
(one that looks good and is compact)
I may have to use eureka which is my sole enemy
My 1st iteration does have that, but it's a lot larger and more volatile compare to this distilled version
Somehow it also handles better but I spent like 3x the time on that compared to this
still doesn't realistically turn does it?
I want to do some black magic and make it turn using a phys bearing
Leaning is the preferred way for a bike
Physics wise
It turns with a flap right?
Right now yeah
good to know
Irl we also mostly steer them with leaninf
Leaning
The handlebar serves as countersteer in sharp/extreme situation
80% of bike turning is leaning
The thruster also simulate torque better than the actual wheels themselves
Yeah the lean is really the main downside of gyro bikes, it leans OUT OF turns, annoying
Was also thinking there might be a phys bearing solution but couldn’t be bothered to do it yet
The main remedy to this is using flaps
Buut it's a very specific use of flap
You want the COM to be below and behind the steering flap so it both leans into the turn and actually turns into it
There's also thrust location relative to COM that dictates turning but ehh
Huh, I don’t want to use thrusters, just the back wheel drive, but might play around with flaps then
Back wheel drive has it's downsides
Main thing is speed limitation
And the space constraint, weight sensitivity
It gets fast enough for me
A thruster is 300kg, create components are ~1100kg on average
Granted with wheel power it goes regardles of weight but I like opitimizing by thingies for weight bc it's fun
Might make some more bikes actually
I use vscale, this is my bike design https://discord.com/channels/244934352092397568/1465952510677356727
Mind you at the time of making that video I didn’t realise I could move the oleo wheel forward too which makes it drive even better
Really my only complaint with it is the leaning out of turns
Ya I looveee that lmao
But yeah I wish there was a way to drive rotation to the back wheel without the universal shaft poking out the side, that would definitely be the main upside of thrusters for me
There is a trackwork++ build that allow it
But it was quickly scrapped for obvious reasons
this seems to be perfectly what some people wants
front steers n stuffs
Looks very good, I just don’t use eureka helms and tournament thrusters yet, something I might get over/be able to replace with other vscaled components
front brakes, front steer, very small
steers with the wheel instead
wait someone made a port?
can i do that on a pre 6.0 create modpack?
I don't think so, but you can hide the springs maybe
yeah but is there a resource pack that hides the suspension?
