The sequenced gearshift keeps resetting when placed on a ship when activated with redstone. So I can't retract my plane's landing gear. How can I fix this?

can you try linking the landing gear to the sequenced gearshift without using any universal joints

my theory is that the universal joint is ignoring the sequenced gearshift telling it to reverse its rotation
