trying to set a weight for every block, but for certain blocks the weight is different for balancing reasons. vs additions overrides datapacks, making this problematic

What?

lofty jasper
# sacred canopy What?

let me explain this a little better: im trying to set a weight for every block, but for certain blocks the weight is different for balancing reasons

sacred canopy
#

Ok?

#

Your options are vs addition and a data pack

lofty jasper
#

Which vs additions doesnt work for

#

and a datapack to my knowledge requires you to write out everything manually

sacred canopy
#

Figure out what the default is for the most blocks you want

#

Use vs addition for that

#

Then do the rest manually in a data pack

lofty jasper
#

No no you donjt understand

#

the datapacks are overriden by vs additions

sacred canopy
#

No they aren’t

#

You need to set the priority to 101 I believe

#

The vs addition config has a “default mass priority” setting I think

lofty jasper
#

Where am i doing that

sacred canopy
#

In the vs addition server config

#

Or set the priority in your data pack

lofty jasper
#

Hm ok. If I'm setting the weight of something, should I put the file under vs and vs_mass or just the mod's specific data folder

#

Just to double check

sacred canopy
#

Up to you I believe

lofty jasper
#

Ive tried both a while back

#

Yeah alright

#

Ill let you know how it goes. Im goonna try it rq

lofty jasper
# sacred canopy Up to you I believe

I'm using ver 0.0.6f for vs additions, I don't theres a default mass priority setting. (it's an older version to avoid conflicts with tallyho)

still dont work unfortunately

sacred canopy
#

you specify mass, but you can also specify priority per entry

#

default is 100 i believe, so higher than that

lofty jasper
#

ah ok

lofty jasper
sacred canopy
#

yes?

#

not sure about capital P

lofty jasper
#

will try

#

yeah @sacred canopy doesnt seem to work unfortunately

sacred canopy
#

did you try lowercase p

#

https://wiki.valkyrienskies.org/wiki/Modifying_Block_Properties just checked le wiki and it seems to be lowercase

Valkyrien Skies Wiki

To modify the weights of blocks you'll need to create a datapack. You can modify the weights of blocks already specified by Valkyrien Skies by using the priority fields in the below example. Higher values have higher priority, VS has a priority of 100, the example has a priority of 101 which should be fine for whatever you're doing.
The folder s...

#

also you might need higher than 101 idk

#

it seems mass needs to be all lowercase too

#

maybe thats the issue
