#Friction is causing a big issue for my tunnel bore

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vY6GSGbijQ0 The video shows my tunnel bore struggling to start a tunnel, seemingly due to friction during the initial tunneling process. The entire machine appears to require being perfectly aligned with the world grid before it can start tunneling at full speed. However, it can’t achieve that level of alignment accuracy until it has progressed a good distance into the tunnel. The tunnel’s walls, ceiling, and floor help the machine achieve this alignment.

From what I can observe, the issue seems to be caused by a very small, almost imperceptible height difference between the front end of the machine and the back. This is likely due to the track suspension. I’ve tried all kinds of different track and suspension configurations, along with various VS2 LOD values (low, medium, high, very high), but I just don’t know what to do. I feel like removing or at least lowering friction might fix the problem, but I’m not sure how to do that. (please feel free to ask for any further/other details required any and all help is greatly appreciated thank you very much)

You could try putting more weights at the back? Netherite and other ingot-blocks are quite heavy

tried that it was of no use

Hm

#

And you tried setting the track strength to lowest with shift-right click while holding the toolbox thing?

# keen hawk And you tried setting the track strength to lowest with shift-right click while ...

as the post said i tried all kinds of different track and suspension setting configurations different sizes of tracks with different lengths and different suspension strength settings set with the tool and with the suspension controller along with increasing the speed of the tracks its such a small skew in alignment that i dont even know how its having this large of an effect you would think it should have to ability to just force itself through the miniscule misalignment but nope i guess not

yeah strange

#

maybe add tournament thrusters at the back?

#

or some other form of propultion

#

to give it a boost

grave willow
#

is there anyway to reduce or get rid of friction between ships and the world?

keen hawk
#

uh actually

#

with vmod yes i think

grave willow
#

i saw someone say friction values can be set with datapacks

keen hawk
#

that too

#

but its per block

grave willow
#

not sure if the friction is from the world blocks or ships blocks or both obviously the world blocks have friction values but do the blocks from create have one too? i think i read somewhere that they are 0 by default

keen hawk
#

dont think so

#

if friction was 0 by default all create blocks would slip and slide all over the place

grave willow
#

hmm i guess

#

if that's the case then removing friction of the drills and other few block types the the front of my tunnel bore is constructed from would hopefully fix it

keen hawk
#

yea

grave willow
#

but uh idk how to make a datapack at all

#

let alone for a mod

#

idek if its different at all

keen hawk
#

nah

#

its not different

#

other than the names of stuff

grave willow
#

yeah i got no hope of doing that

#

idk maybe thrusters will work but i don't have tournament and im not sure if it works with my pack but i guess ill give it a shot

so I've discovered my tacks hitbox are wider then they visually appear which is definitely causing extra issues but idek why its like this I've increased my LOD multiple times with no changes
