I've noticed that new members seem to ask about the same couple of issues over and over again.
Thing is, there already is a pinned post in the support forum that answers all these questions.
SO WHY WON'T PEOPLE READ IT?
1. The title puts people off
The title makes newcomers go: "Pfft, I'm not a beggar, I don't beg for help, I know how to ask for help." Or they think: "I'm smart enough to find it by myself". Both types will proceed to either waste other people's time asking 'dumb' questions or their own time looking through crash logs.
2. The title misrepresents the post
The title 'how to correctly beg for help' suggests that it's about in what manner you should ask for help. I.e.: be polite, explain your issues clearly etc. While it does indeed talk about that, the post contains much more information. It has an install guide, general troubleshooting steps, FAQ elements and more, all of which you normally don't expect in a post titled as such.
3. The post is 'semi-hidden'
Newcomers see Valkyrien Skies featured online and it looks hella cool. They are excited and want it on their PC now, reading be damned. If an FAQ-like post isn't immediately shoved (multiple times, even) into their face, of course they're gonna miss it. Currently you have to know that an FAQ is located in the support channel, click on the post, then click on the message link, because for some reason people have chatted in it. Please put a post like this in the info category, also please clearly show/link it to people who've just joined.
4. Lacking formatting
As mentioned above, people want information fast. They will skim, so adding clear sections to the post helps people find the relevant info. (ex: Fabric user won't accidentally read the Forge section)
P1: can someone give me the download to X plz
P2: you could've searched it up yourself
P1: cant be bothered
You can't help these, but you can help:
Am I stupid?
I can't find the download
this is a maze
