me and @tulip heath designed this semi-realistic wing sweep concept to allow for full automation in flight. It does also provide benefits because when the wings are folded the mechanical bearings make the wings have no mass on a vs ship. This increases speed and decreases drag. Tutorial (it can break during use if u r not careful) (CONTROLS ARE TEMPORARY FOR THIS TESTING AND WILL BE REPLACED IN MY UPCOMING F-14) Hold space down and THEN tap shift, this will fold wings. To unfold, hold space THEN hold shift down.
Then, finally to resolidify and disconnect the wings from the flaps tap space once more to disconnect stickers if necessary but always do it for good measure. As far as I know, nobody has developed a similar working concept.

How do you control the plane when the wings are folded in

If you haven’t thought of that, it might be an idea to make the backflaps take over the job of the front flaps only when the wings are folded in

Shame that a phys bearing doesn’t have a rotation transfer shaft in the middle or anything like that

yeah I just woke up and didn’t read all of it

But a phys bearing would require another engine (or creative motor) on the end of it to keep the controllability

#

And when wings are rotated, they lose a LOT of steering sensetivity

#

so the pitch would end up being out of sync with the roll

If you did a phys bearing the only advantage would be that you keep the controls, but you wouldn’t

Cos you can’t transfer power to and from a phys bearing

Oh yeah well wing blocks wouldn’t require power but you could use Ender transmitters for flaps
