#GUYS I NEED YOUR HELP...

create aero š¤®
LMAO
this is my first time seeing it irl
no fucking way
"guys i just need someone to help me code this very niche and specific thing for minecraft, for free, on my whim please guys"
nah it's not for free you'll get exposure on the discord
ur 10 years old lmfao?????
now we're fucking talking
i'd take that deal if i knew how to code
off topic why the hell on create aero
people have made those with vs?
i have seen submarines with vs lol
wdym they get sink
lmfao
@stone rose@abstract gate@rich shadow@spiral vortex
the drama between us is cuz CA stole VS2 Flywheel code earlier on when CA was public, it spiralled into big Drama
I agree the video is cool
Sadly, even with Gizmo, there isnt any programming, its command blocks iirc
VS2 has no similar VR interface rn
damn
i just assumed it was normal vs elitist bullshit
silly reason for drama
stolen code is a silly reason?
for drama yes
Aero is more flashy, whether its better is of personal opinion
@spiral vortex not if they broke VS2's license at the time, doubled down about it not being stole, and being smug enough to say "even if we did, you are open source"
The License at the time was Apache 2.0, so yes Open Source BUT with the caveat that the original code/dev be credited when its taken and used elsewhere
they not only didnt credit VS2, bjut doubled down when called out
again its silly cause if i lets say
steal your wallet, and after you handle that w me to fix the situation
wouldn't it be wack to have ppl who werent involved w that gossip like school girls
lets say you patent a new technology saying companies can use it if they credit you
then a rival company took it, make it fit in their system, and said it was theres
the drama is wack and should have been kept private
that's just what happened to my man tesla
not that big of a deal
it was, then Ryan ran back to Aero discord to spread shit, so Triode and Ruby made a video comparing the files side by side (this video is now private/taken down in the name of not spreading drama)
eh
I still think aero is cooler, the arguments presented do not change my mind due to it being just drama
from my perspective, valkyrien skies has less to offer compared to aeronautics, based on what I have read
wait so, is that your argument
how is stolen code "just drama"
it's like having somebody break into your house and your neighbour says they still like the robber cause it's "just drama"
because I dont really see why people cant just wait a couple more months for aero to release
I like the robber cus they got a lot of cool additions : P
last i heard they said its coming 2023
and well half a year passed and i didnt hear jackshit about it coming out
still no release tho
I can wait, its gonna be epic when it comes out
cool thing about aero is that they offer compatibility with other mods
like create big cannons
so uh, is there anything else included with vs>
like content
@wispy bluff i havent even started to argument
CA is a content mod in and of itself, VS2 is more versitile not bieng tied to Create and its wackiness
VS2 has CBC compat via Clockwork (which will be moved to base VS2 when the compat mixins are more polished)
VS2 itself is not a content mod, but provides the physics that ANY addon can use
VS2's code is open source (minus the actual C++ physics engine running in the background)
VS2 compat is open for Pull Requests so got a mod you want compat with? make a #1019676352464551946 or you can get an IDE, grab VS2, and make the compat yourself
And about content, theresa more than just Clockwork, theres Eureka, Tournament, Horizons, Stardust, Universal, Industria, MekAPI, Create R&D, Valkyrien Computers, Unnamed Military Addon thats a Flans-type mod, Valkyrien Isles, VS Buggy, etc
it cannot currently be made as like Gizmo, but that doesnt meaqn someone cant just say "Fuck It" and make such as addon themselves
in fact, there was a player attempting such a feat till thier own life got in the way
Haz
whats the difference between clockwork, eureka, tournament
well actually a better question would be:
could you summarise the addons?
what does it add?
I see
Clockwork is a VS2 x Create Integration addon using Create's systems ot power and move physics bodies
Eureak is the first addon, being a tech demo, that adds simple Archimedes Style controls
Tournament is more a playground of features such as its own custom ropes and hooks, Spinners, Thrusters, even ad Piggies Firework Rockets
I see?
Clockwork is not VS2, its an addon to VS2
Stardust is a now abandoned addon made by a Chinese dev who we hav since lost contact with
it was a space age addon which has a shit ton of cool assets in #fate-of-war-showcase
I had a joke in mind but it would be best to not say it
he must of said something about the government
In any case, he sparked an interest in space so 4 other devs who wanted to make space addons have joined forces to create Universal API
Basically, so we each don't reinvent the space age wheel, we put all our common code in Universal, this'll also help with compat between our addons
Namely air systems, space itself, planets, orbital mechanics, etc
All we are waiting on is LOD, VS Bodies/Addon API, and the low res fluid sim
Funny you should mention that
I plan on my addon taking inspiration from WarpDrive, called ValkyrienDrive
my loyalty is with VS
XD
The only thing really stopping me rn is the ability to teleport the ships to other dimensions, thats legit all I need
Minus low res fluid sim which I can re-purpose for an air pressure and air quality system so you have to keep your stuff actually pressurized and shit
But for the sake of Universal working, I will wait for VS Bodies as well so my planets and Universal API planets dont overlap and do weird stuff
would it be possible with having the dimensions stacked using a mod for that
No
really nice
and yes, the demo is (and is probably) going to release this year.
when
and when was the last progress announcement
febuary,
this does not mean laziness/unfinishedness
just that they're working on a fuckin physics engine in minecraft?
aero doesnt desercer that much trust in my opinion
they were insulting VS which has a respectful history
why is aero taking so long when they stole code from VS
It was only Flywheel compat
@fresh thistle @stone rose
Aero is cool, just some devs are not
As said, Gizmo is a cool system
And about their delays being that they are working on a physics engine, so is VS2
Its called Krunch, its written in C++, its closed source and the only person who can work on it is Triode
Rn he's finishing an update to expand LOD so we can do a lot more crazy shit, ships will be more optimized, and collision will no longer be full block for non-full blocks
Next is VS Bodies/Addon API update, then reworking constraints
They stole code?
That sucks
Nah bro create aeronautics made me ragequit their server after they posted their mod but with just a plunger
skissue
Quite
Some time ago they posted a update on their aeronautics, saying the full version is delayed. The only things that were added was a plunger and a plunger gun (I think) and something else I canāt remember
wasnt it that bell-like thing for assembly?
you can send a video?
@stone rose really the only tihng you lack for rewcreating Gizmo is a VR interface for VS2, but you can still make that into a mech via CC:Tweaked/Restitched and CC:C Bridge to manipulate Create stuff with computers
Aero mods are trash humans the mod in itself is fine
bad idea, Ship Helm will not let them rotate at all, Eureka Ship Helm is made to keep the ship upright
no, it will not, it will just keep your ship FROM rotating
your arm will be straight, still as a board, and unable to rotate
Bro that was april fools
I knew something was up
Bro and they said they were fonna make physics on A FEW YEARS and right now they are just gonna give us plungers. and clockwork is already out so why not use clockwork instead
theres no way you are all so retarded
^^
Just cuz itās slow doesnāt mean itās ass yk
Blame the mods
Those mfs are just dictators
Constantly tilted about something
First of all not the mods, mostly the head dev
Second, I have an idea
The time will come to employ it
Sure they have 10000 people while we only have 5000
But there won't be 10000 people when aero releases
Why like people getting sick of waiting?
Rephrase please?
Oh
Because they don't know about vs or they think vs is unpolished
Also a decent amount of them are in the vs server
A lot of them came from aero, but watched YouTubers who said that vs is Knockoff aero
And that's the benefit of my plan
The issue is we need enough people
Yea, like Clockwork is obviously unfinished but what do you expect from a mod with only like a few months of development
By primarily a SINGLE dev
Iām just excited for areo I donāt care about stolen code or bs like that i just want to build cool stuff and Iām using clockwork right now and someone helped me build a plane and itās really cool
I kind of want someone to make an addon for aero when it comes out and it just removes their physics engine but keeps the blocks
Just so I can use it for vs
Then Aero would denounce it
They have said they won't make compat and do not want compat to be made between Aero and VS2
Fair
Btw how do we know that aero stole code
Triode and Ruby had a video comparing the stole code and VS2's code side by side from a repo copy from when Aero was open source
it has been taken down by Triode to keep drama from spreading farther
i would if i could but FUCKING FUCKITY FUCKING MAC FOR SOME REASON CANT CONNECT TO MA FUCKIN OCULUS
automod when the ecosystem with bad gaming compatibility has bad gaming compatibility
or maybe its the games with bad mac compatability
yes, that's what i said
compatibility is not one-way
mac has low compatibility with games
games have low compatibility with mac
the question of whose fault it is, is more difficult
i'm not gonna get into it though š
I rest my case https://youtu.be/minv3Lubyvs
if you can do it without a eureka helm then you'll have me beat
Iām confused abt how making it suddenly accelerate to the side if it falls over keeps it upright
Why? It's objectively better. While it's not out yet, the beta version that will be coming out this year will almost certainly be of high quality based on teasers, while this mod is still in alpha and doesn't even have full textures. Aero doesn't require advanced coding knowledge just to stabilize a contraption. Aero has substantially more content than Clockwork will ever have. Aero's content better fits with the Create mod's theme and vision.
Also Aero have much bigger ecosystem of addons(like for space or land)
Exactly.
Idk why people in this discord are so intent on hating on Aero. Like, have you really gone so far in on this mod that would rather jump through mental hoops in order to enjoy a comforting lie rather than admit you were wrong?
I asked how to stabilize my airship because I was sure there was something I was missing and I was basically told "lol learn lua if you want stabilization"
Friendly Community
Well, they did technically give me the best advice they could offer. It's hardly their fault that the mod has no native stabilization.
Plus all the components for the mod are hard-coded mechanics. It's very bad design practice to implement blocks that are super specific, such as the wing bearing which is only used for wings. It's why there's no 'moving door' block in vanilla Minecraft. Instead, you're given basic components such as pistons to move blocks, redstone wire to send signals, repeaters to create delays. This allows you to create a piston door, and so much more. Create and Create Aero follow this design principle, which is partly why they're so successful. Create adds mechanical bearings to rotate blocks. Any blocks, in any configuration. Aero adds the torsion spring and analog transmission. They do simple, broad ranging functions which can be applied in many different ways.
define airship
Did bro DEFEND built in stabilisation features?
You realise this community legit does everything it can not to use the available self stabilisation, that being eureka
Because itās easy and a way around actually having to make smth work the impressive way
Itās not like we donāt have an object to do the work for you, we do, itās just that nobody likes it
Also the flap bearings exists cos itās a strong method of rotating flaps to turn a plane
You can use it for other stuff itās just that there isnt another way of doing it
Oh yes how impressive. You have a mod that requires advanced knowledge of a coding language in order to build airships that don't spin out of control. That's sure to get downloads from the average Minecrafter.
Or you could just use a torsion spring and a mechanical bearing.
I thought mechanical bearings didnāt give feedback?
like, didnāt change from any physical input other than rotating via shaft
I mean if it does work, then by all means, do it
Yea, you just hook up a source of rotation power to the torsion spring, set it to say, 15 degrees, attach that to a mechanical bearing with sail blocks, and provide a redstone signal. Accomplishes the same thing, but provides a multitude of other uses as well.
can you send me an example of this
Like a screenshot of you doing it
or are you saying we need it
Aeros not out yet, but I can see if I can find a specific example from their teasers
Oh
Nah Aeros already got it
Oh btw we have a loose bearing now
Btw has anybody actually USED aero yet?
Cos I keep hearing shit that its a buggy mess or smth but idk if people actually have proof
Nah its not out for beta yet, planned for sometime this year. Heres a video of the thing im talking about, look for the 40 sec mark and watch as he looks back to the rudder
Keep in mind
This is from a year an a half ago so it looks buggy
They've gotten way smoother since then
LOL, No one used aero, its not public by any means(even for youtubers)
This is all doable in clockwork
If you want to see their up to date video heres this
Join the Create: Aeronautics Discord - https://discord.gg/createaeronautics
This announcement has been in the works ever since Aeronautics was at 2,000 members, and since then we've come a long way. It's been a lot of experimentation and work to get to this point. Check out this new feature showcase of our new contraption engine, Landlord!
We ...
Tell me if THAT is doable in clockwork
Whoever says that Aero is buggy mess is just making the conclusion out of thin air
Mhm
I canāt load the vid wtf lmao
You... cant load a YT video?
So a big ass airship?
So you just.. dont watch YT ever?
Nah my phone was bugging
Dw
Internets been being weird lately
Well watch it when you get home and tell me what you think
It's not about the airship, its about the fact that everything works on the airship in a smooth manor
You can create train, contraptions work, entities stay attached
Not "Just a big ass airship", its working, no lags and works with other mods
It's proof that Aero has already FAR surpassed Clockwork. Clockwork is still EXTREMELY buggy.
Ok
TETRODE
hey I saw you type
They've also got magnets
Check out this video
#937444280908283925 message
You can pick up contraptions with magnets
You can even create railguns
And most importantly, its user friendly. The mechanics aren't overly complicated to the point where you have to know a coding language to use it
I couldnāt find it
You couldn't find it? It's right there.
Thatās a computer mod
Thatās not even part of clockwork
and without it you can`t do cool stuff
Untrue
Without it you can do all the same stuff except you have to balance it properly
@heady nest@drowsy hull@zenith ruin
OK so, let me inform you on why there was beef and why, while i think Aero itself is cool, im sticking with VS2
Awhile back, when CA was actually open as in code-wise to the public or atleast to other devs, VS2 devs found multiple snippets of code from their own old Flywheel compat code within Aero, when confronted, Ryan doubled down on it and started spreading misinformation, forcing VS2 devs to make a whole ass video comparing the code side-by-side from the stolen segments
This, followed by 2 response docs, was then quenched for the good of the modding community
Aero is cool and will be very good, but some of the devs are sus and ignore licenses even when cvonfronted
I tried for an hour to build a flying drone platform. Every time I started it up, it spin around randomly
I want putting down any mods Iām just saying that clockwork works fine
ik
bro
U gotta make the blades rotate in different directions
To counter the torque
Thatās basic physics
Top left and bottom right go one way and the others go the other way
now as for yall bashing Clockwork, Rule 2
@heady nest @drowsy hull
how did bro not know what counter torque is š
So... were not allowed to talk about valid criticism? Ever?
Valid criticism and constant complains with no effort put into advising improvements are not the same thing
the Clockwork devs, namely Potato, chose to go a more realistic route with flight controls
and I made it easier by adding integration with COmputerCraft to let you more easily design cool control systems
Oh yeah the whole āadvanced coding skills thingā is completely untrue btw angel, lua is one of the easiest and simplest languages to use
You don't have to provide a solution in order to provide critique. I raised problems I found with the mod. That doesn't make it my responsibility to provide a solution.
if you prefer Aero's more lax control scheme, its not skin off our backs
Well then itās unwanted critique
As a person who receives criticism for what I create, people complaining without saying how to do better are a nuisance
Maybe so, but it still takes a lot of time to learn it.
YouTube tutorials on how to make the exact piece of code that everybody uses for it:
@heady nest if you wanna critique Clockwork's choices, why did you come to #1068077922654625812 instead of #1019676352464551946 ?
and why on such an old post as well?
I was just responding to what someone posted earlier, and then it all spiraled from there
^^ cos of this
Because a child said they didnāt want to use the mod
he did all this because of a ten year old
A very talented one
I provided a counter argument to his claim, his age is completely irrelevant.
HES TEN HE DOESNT EVEN HAVE BASIC SELF AWARENESS
I thought he was a very talented 10 year old
Either way you didnāt need to do all this cos he said 5 words
I didn't need to my friend, I chose to.
now, I will reiterate, Aero will be cool, but Clockwork is not Aero and any valid comparison should be made when both mods are out
I am sticking with VS2 as they are more open about bugs and critic of their systems
I wish Aero would show something outside a dressed up showcase made to not show bugs, but I know that is unlikely to happen
Clockwork is in pre-alpha btw, this next update will. be full of bug fixes, adding missing features, and 0.5.1
Fair enough.
Yeah that first part is a really good point, aero is for the people that want to do stuff, as you said, more generically
Clockwork is a mod with a different method by pure intention
similar mods, different goals
itās not that itās worse itās that itās for a different community
Exactly
To be fair though, they do have a channel filled with almost nothing but bugs and bloopers.
A lot of people who play the simple way in a lot of games donāt like having to engineer their way around things, but thatās exactly why clockwork is good, cos you have to put in effort
Aero or Clockwork?
nice
Theres some really funny ones in there
One video shows them forgetting to change the block model of a dyed balloon block, and when he dyes it yellow it turns into a yellow sail
Tbf the reason why he is talented is because he makes proper aircraft look nice while functioning properly
Also I don't recommend starting with a drone
Weight is the first issue that you need to deal with, so using more propellers could help. Like what was already stated, counter torque is another issue. So I might recommend trying a helicopter, it's a bit more difficult to control, but it makes it easier to understand counter torque and how to solve it
