I think it would be really cool if there were arresting cables and tailhooks that could stop a clockwork plane quickly on a short runway. It would also be great if it worked on other ships, for example on an aircraft carrier that could move.

Dude, you can use the mechanical slime block (I don't know if that's the name, but it's the one you activate and deactivate its sticky mode) it can join two VS ships into one
It is from the create mod itself and uses only redstone, not needing rotational force to work.

That's cool, you do need vs-additions for that but anyways the arresting cables would be used to slow the planes down quickly not just strap 2 ships together
