the art style and menu is classic, i like the leaderboard (made #3 for today!), and have played on just mobile so far where it works great! as it is, it feels like a good arcade game

i think things should get harder or more interesting as the levels go by. currently, the only thing i noticed getting more difficult was that my shields (beer cans) were slowly disappearing. however they were probably moreso a nuisance to throw around than they were a benefit as a shield.

maybe find other ways to increase stress/pressure on the player as they complete rounds?

The way the difficulty increases each round is based on 3 factors. The reduced number of defense cans as you mentioned, increased pace of the aliens (it's subtle but adds up), and increased pace of firing (also subtle but adds up). I wanted to make it pretty difficult to get to 10000 points, but not impossible, while ideally making it fun enough to warrant repeat plays and be entertaining for those who make it into deeper rounds. I'll give it some thought to see if maybe there is something more obvious to introduce to increase the stress/pressure but still keep it light and fun.

I think you'll like the laptop/desktop experience too. Do you think your friends who are not Phaser gamedevs might enjoy this?
