nvidia was smooth with it when they first released but all the time restrictions made it kinda lame and expensive. at this point just spend $400 and buy a pre-owned pc with a 1660ti in it and you would be set as long as you are not playing with ultra graphics

the problem is that if it's better for most, the market will align with most.
and in this case, big companies have everything to win by switching to that model, so you can bet they will build the incentives to lead people there and then cut the cord to us owning anything

i agree that you save money, but at a certain point, when you're ready to buy a pc, you won't be able to as the price would have skyrocketted due to lack of demand

If people get dependent on cloud services the companies have no incentive not to raise prices / make the service worse. Like the geforce now 100h limit, they won't stop there

The whole point of cloud gaming is to make people pay subscriptions for access to both the games and the hardware to play them on

Making people pay subscriptions for gaming hardware seems to suck pretty bad though so I don't think it'll work

But i highly doubt that this strategy will ever be functional. Again, the PC market is HUGE, one non-hardware, non-gaming company can’t realistically dictate how everything should be there.
Like ban all the computer parts on Amazon? Users will just move one to another marketplace

the only people that will listen are the AAA industry which are run by business people and marketing teams, not game developers themselves, and we all know where they're heading
