oh em geeeeeeeez
thanks to this post I've learned what joel reymont has done to several tech communities this past week and... it's just... pure popcorn...
I usually don't care/like about this type of drama, but this one is so entertaining... it's sad for the maintainers tho
Cringe
what he do? seems like he's hiding his bad press
I’ve never even heard of them. I assumed it was someone at Microsoft who unintentionally enshittified GHA
My screenshot right above
He "found and fixed" multiple "bugs" which just caused confusion as people asked to elaborate since they werent bugs but he sounded convincing in that it was an issue... screenshot shows he just vibed out finding and fixing them.
He's exhibit A in the article.
also, there's more data on the hackernews discussion... he's done the same with ocaml
re the move itself, seems bad/political imo. (and yet I agree gh has become worse in the last year or so - yet wasting precious donations money on not using free resources seems bad)
The issues they cited were actively hindering development though.
He's been actively combatting people in those HN threads too.
going somewhere people don't have account or familiarity is one way to... have fewer issues opened and bad AI PRs ... for a little while... still pretty bad political move
It's kinda weird they didnt set up incremental migration steps, eg moving donations over and then mirroring codebase, etc
