what's the point of using jquery tho? why not just use vanilla js and throw out a whole dependency?

for brand new projects you probably won't. but there are still millions of projects already using it then need still need to be maintained

arent the stats still crazy like 70% of major sites or something

it has a very rich plugin ecosystem
and the web is more than just the latest javascript framework 😛

yes, because most major sites still run wordpress, which uses jquery

jquery is pretty awesome for light small stuff you want to do tbh

fast and easy to work with, idk why there is so much hate for it. I also have worked with plenty of front end frameworks, I still say this.
