only windows?

haha

#

how anti-linux they are lmao

copper cliff
#

well i mean, if windows subsystem for linux exists, why would you, right? blaze

#

also, my question is a legit question, i'm not informed

I actually had the same exact question when seeing the title and not as a joke.... I would not be surprised if it was the case that they did not plan on releasing any kernel packages or working with linux at all, or mac.... I can hear people reacting mentally with the linus torvalds F-U nvidea clip

lol ye

also, new product, prone to failure and no trial by fire

#

honestly I don't see it going well

#

ARM is used by many different systems, low level to PC, sounds like they want to do a "ARM like CPU"

though they have a history of overpromising and underdelivering so who knows

problem is that these types of compute solutions have some pretty big cons, software compatibility and stability being one of them but also future expansion for the system as a SOC is going to have memory modules etc placed all within to decrease distances and increase speed by doing so..... not a bad route for gains but also not a route I personally would want to go down with one of my own systems....

#

but we will see I guess.

#

yeah but you just need to look at what the M- chips have done on the Macbook side

#

seems inevitable at this point

cloud sedge
#

I know a ton about them and the tech invoulved, like I said it is not a bad route but it is one I wouldn't go down personally

#

the gains are very real

#

but there are cons and those cons to me are enough to have me avoid those gains as the gains aren't really anything I feel pressed to see atm from my laptop

is it only for windows

IDK what does the title say?

They should make it for Macs!

You’re not gonna get much better than apple making chips for apple

also it is more likely that nvidea and MS have a deal that nvidea would release it with the needed drivers and firmware data to work with windows and also to work with them to match up changes with updates and that usually translates into other platforms like mac and linux distros technically being able to use them but needing to first write out and address all that themselves and this is why nvidea has a bad rep with linux users as that is already done for their GPUs so it isn't like you wouldn't be able to use it outside a windows OS but that would depend on the community putting the work in..... except apple probable wont do that and if they don't macOS is hyper built out with the hardware in mind so a real limit would be there 100%
