I've always thought it was weird that rust includes a fair bit of politics in their documents, but holy shit this takes things to a whole 'nother extreme

I really dont see the point of trying to trademark very normal english words. We can freely use rust for anything unrelated to lang. If i google rust right now, pretty sure i get the videogame as the first result anyways? It's a bit of a money pincher move really. As someone on twitter said, sounds like nintendo lawyers drafted this up...

If im not mistaken, the rust foundation isnt a 1:1 to the rust project. Just food for thought, dont suddenly hate the lang over this

It is a call for comments, not a final proposal. It's stupid that they're even doing this in the first place, but I'm not surprised or worried.

I think the policy is useless and legally toothless. It's not like we were seeing gross misuse of the Rust logo or the Rust or Cargo names.
I understand the desire to have some reserved naming convention for official rust packages, but this is the wrong way to solve it.
