Regardless of what your intention is in anything in life, the only thing that matters is how other people perceive it.

Aside from that, whatever the action is, if the intention is partly to make people angry to start discussions or debates, it feels like you’re trying to stir the pot or cause disruption in the community, and we’re not equipped to maintain these kinds of heated political debates with frequency so we discourage them.

Anyway, it seems you’ve changed your name?

You are right, but my intention is not to start fights and the debates are fun, I like to hear what people think. also most of the time they just laugh, or practice pronouncing it, in all the time that I have been on the server, only someone got angry and we did not fight.
Well, I can change my name, but I have a question, would you also silence someone who preaches or has a name referring to communism?

I get what you’re saying, I like debating and the like. To answer your question, it depends on the name. If it were literally the word “communism”, I don’t think that would necessarily upset anyone or start any debates (if it turns out it did, we would change it). If it references some specific political opinion relating to communism and that was starting debates, then we would change it.

The rules state, “please avoid arguing or debating controversial ideas in normal channels” (the not normal channel being #sensitive-topics)

I like debating and I’m right there with you on that, but we’re not equipped to moderate these debates; we’re not a debate/politics server. We’re a language learning server.

Even if yours are often civil, we used to have many others that blow up and it caused us to have to spend a lot of time going back and going through the whole thing figuring out who said what when etc. If it was in a voice channel we were just screwed.

My final point is to remind you that one’s intentions are usually not very important in a lot of things. The only thing that matters is how it came across. If someone sees your name and thinks you’re a nazi sympathizer and you don’t get the chance to explain it to them/talk to them, then they’ll think you’re a nazi sympathizer, and then they’ll think we as a server are cool with nazi sympathizers hanging around. Your intentions in that case didn’t matter.

For example, if you set up a sign in a park saying “I think hitler was ok, prove me wrong”, some people stop and discuss it with you, where you probably just were intending on playing devil’s advocate rather than actually believing it, and then good discussions result. However, 95% of the people who walk by think there’s a nazi sitting in the park.
