Bread in Chile is truly good. I’d say just as or perhaps even better than German. There are a lot of types, so you always find something to please your palate. Also, it doesn’t have sugar like the American one and it’s mostly just flour, yeast and water, besides some variations that use vegetable lard as ingredient for added tastiness. I’d definitely recommend trying it, if you have the chance if travelling. Marraqueta and Dobladitas are so good.

Ps, in Chile, at least in Santiago, it’s easy to find bread from all around the world as well, with the original recipes, so you can add that to the mix.

Based on what you said, people who come here to study any one language out of the two should avoid #general in common. I have heard that the majority who come with a Spanish background or want to learn Spanish don't complain or have any problems because most of them know English too. There are exceptional cases where individuals know only one language or want to talk or learn in one particular language at a time in #general. These are the ones who need help and want to learn seriously but can't, and thus have to avoid common channels. They have to participate in less active channels, which isn’t fair to them.
Just because such cases are not frequently seen doesn't mean they don't exist. They will only be heard unless these exceptional learners become the majority. I understand that it might not be possible to change something that has been the same for seven years and that people have found their comfort in it. Still, I believe this change would benefit those few cases and create a balance instead of mixing both conversations in one place.

I like places that are a bit populated but not too dry. But, the servers with high populations often have gaming or anime in common, which I don't like or have something in common with them. Whenever I join some average Discord server, people just share cat and dog photos or gifs, making it feel like a zoo. It seems like there might have been a misunderstanding. I mentioned that there are people who may not know a certain language well or are just beginning to understand complex sentences. In a mixed channel where both languages are used, one language can easily dominate over the other, which isn't fair to those who are still learning. Each channel would allow users to use and be exposed to the respective language without needing to exclusively communicate in that language all the time. I might not want to force or discuss it further, but what worse could happen if we have separate general channels?

LMAO, I didn't know that. Now, you might interpret it as disrespect to Spanish. Everyone knows English is globally accepted and widely spoken more than other languages in the world. So, if I say mastering and fluently speaking English is much more beneficial, what's wrong with that? It's not just about English; if Spanish were in the place of English, I would say the same thing for Spanish over English. If you have personal reasons and understand how it could benefit you, you should learn it.

That quote "Jack of all trades, master of none, but still better than a master of one" is subjective and context dependent. Scientific research shows that multitasking reduces efficiency and performance, as our brains aren't designed to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously (University of London). I often see people switching languages frequently, but it doesn't benefit them in any way or aid in learning something new. if you want to claim that switching languages makes you more stressed and reduces learning then you need to find a study that covers switching languages specifically. multitasking is doing more than one task at a time, and participating in a bilingual conversation could easily be counted as one task

for the first part of your message, learning two languages at once is definitely not multitasking. if you can learn both science and math in school then you can work on more than one language. there is value to just focusing on one language before working on another one but trying to conflate this with multitasking doesn’t make sense

I think we (or at least, I) understand your proposal and arguments well. But it seems you have never understood our side of things. As someone who wants to focus on English, I get you wanting an English only channel.

However, this server is built on language exchange. It stands because the natives of one language who have gathered here did so to study another language. That’s why your idea theoretically is good for maybe another server, but not ours, and it won’t be implemented here. We need that exchange here, and separating the server totally into an English and Spanish half will hurt the community I believe.

So, that’s my answer to your question or “what worse could happen”. It will hurt the community and lessen the sense of togetherness we have out of our exchange of specifically English and Spanish in our central gathering channel.

I think if we polled the top 100 users of the server, I would wager to say 90% of them or more would say a mixed general channel is better than a language split one.

I would have already left the server after talking with the mods, but people kept pinging me with their responses, debating with me, and asking for my logic and other questions instead of asking the authorities. Do they think I've never been to any language learning servers? I've been to many, but I realised that learning from people who are still in their learning phase isn't very helpful. This was the last language learning server I joined, as my efforts to make small, simple changes weren't appreciated. I just wanted to separate the general channel because it was busy all the time with random people and their random topics, and not very crowded either. Since this was the last server I was trying, I thought, why not give it a chance? But unfortunately, my efforts weren't appreciated.

Also, I would like to repeat once again why I wanted to separate the general channel, even though we have dedicated English channels. First, those English channels aren't very active I see the same faces every day, and whenever I try to converse, I get different responses. The general channel has an upper hand because whenever a member joins, they casually end up in the general channel to converse (I do it too). Over time, everyone ends up in the same place, whether they are beginners, intermediate, or advanced learners so you don’t have to shift to those channels and can share things in common. I was trying to make it more organised so that people could have casual conversations without worrying about language swapping. Swapping languages always disrupts the conversation in progress. It's not just me who has this problem.
Now, these were my personal experience, but it is also scientifically proven that constant language switching is not beneficial and disrupts your brain. Some people still oppose this, and I don't care much because their personal experiences can't change the proven facts, even if they don't feel the effects.

Having been to other language learning servers, I thought I'd give this one a chance, but I've concluded that Discord servers aren't the best place to learn a language, especially with average, random people after incidents like these. You mentioned that I should have tried to understand the authorities' perspective, but the authorities didn't seem to provide a compelling reason. They referred to a seven year old setup of the server, where the majority of people are learning with no complaints while ignoring the exceptions.
Then, a random person who didn't know what was being discussed joined in, with multiple languages listed in their bio but no clear purpose, and sarcastically mocked my logic just because I have a specific purpose for learning. They dismissed years of scientific literature and proof, replying with their own baseless experiences. Instead of mastering the languages they learned with a clear purpose, they chose to call someone else's reasoning illogical. Everyone has their own interests or reasons to learn something, so how can they come to such conclusions and disrespect someone else's purpose? And yes, I would have learned Mandarin if I had trade relations with China or needed to hire someone
I may have misunderstood, but I feel unsettled by the unintended impact of people's words, even when they intend to be helpful

Sorry if I sound too straightforward or harsh, but I didn't expect to receive so much backlash for a simple suggestion. I kindly request updating the server description to clarify that new members, like myself, should be prepared to converse in both Spanish and English in the general channel, due to the frequent shifts in languages.
