Hi. I had a suggestion for a server event. This idea is a reference to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfCB5-AkMA0. Basically an idiom or well known quote from your native language is translated a couple times by google translate to your target language and you need to try to guess what the original idiom/quote was. Please look into it. I think it would be a really fun event to do.

I prefer the old system from the perspective of knowing what dialect of the foreign language other people are speaking, I see the reason for having it so it's clear it's the dialect people can correct you with
However, personally I'd say being able to easily know what dialect people are speaking during a conversation is more useful since it's just in the flow of the conversation and you can pick up on how people are speaking, and correcting is a fair bit more active + how I see it while doing it you more easily check roles to see how to correct

like, you can easily check someone's roles to see how to correct while helping them but you don't want to check the roles of every single person you see during a convo, and not being able to know does mean you're losing something however small it may be

Just a thought, maybe it would be better and/or less confusing to have our roles/flags tell what dialect(s) we know/speak instead of what dialect(s) we wish to learn. The learner/asker can filter what information they think is relevant to them based on the helper's/answerer's dialect role.

Based on the post in #🔔・notifications, I understand that the flag(s) I get would show what dialect(s) I want to learn, so for example if I want to learn Peruvian spanish, I would have a Mexico flag. This is supposed to tell people that I want to learn Peruvian Spanish and would appreciate answers from Peruvians.
I see 2 problems, or rather glitches:

1. People who are not from Peru might be hesitant to answer me, since they know that their answer might not be relevant to me so why waste time typing it out and trying to explain stuff, meaning I have to wait a longer time till the next available person from Peru volunteers to answer my question, which makes the system inefficient
2. If I get a bunch of answers, there is no way for me to verify if the answer is relevant to me since not everyone has a country role. So, it would even be difficult for me to filter through the answers to find the one relevant to me.

If the flags were to show what dialect(s) people spoke, those 2 glitches are solved. People from everywhere answer my question, and since their flags tell me who is from Peru, or speaks Peruvian Spanish, it becomes easier for me to filter through and get an answer that is relevant to me. Even if I have to wait a bit to get an answer from a Peruvian, I still am more likely to get an answer from SOMEONE that can satisfy me for that moment.

TL;DR: it might be more efficient to have flags show what dialects we speak instead of what dialects we wish to learn

They got banned because they're underage. Discord's ToS say that you must be 13yo or older in order to use their service

por ejemplo, cuando una persona responde una pregunta, no hay forma de corregir de manera óptima lo que dijo ya que en el transcurso que va hablando, uno se olvida de los detalles

I'll tell you what our idea is: the first goal of speaking session isn't to be corrected about everything you say but more like a general observation.
They should be fun and dynamic sessions where the most important part is that people can start speaking in their target language, little by little and as much as their level allows them to.

There always are alternatives if you want to correct someone, or someone wants to be corrected: transcribing their answer and working on it through text chat is one of them. But as I said before, I think the coolest part of it is forcing your brain to think in your target language and force yourself to answer out loud in front of many people.

But the point of Speaking Time is to give us a space to speak freely and answer a question to get practicing. People can correct you if you want, but if you don't want to be corrected then you don't have to be. It's more about being able to just practice talking and saying the words. The focus isn't about the corrections, but when i did it before people wrote the corrections in the text chat.

I´m a bit confused about the difference between the weekly audio channels. What is the difference between audio of the week, and audio of the week feedback?

I´m a native english speaker, does that mean I record audio in english, speaking the listed text in english?

Or I try to speak the spanish text in spanish, since that´s the language I´m learning.

Audio of the week is where a text is posted for people to read in their native language. You will record yourself reading it in Audio of the Week. In Audio of the Week Feedback, you will post an audio of you reading another text in your target language. If you're learning Spanish, then you'll record yourself reading the English text and post it in #🎺・aotw-natives and you'll record yourself reading the Spanish text and post it in #🎤・aotw-learners with the accent that you're learning so that Spanish natives with that accent can correct your pronunciation.
