Hey I have another idea for a community event. It will be a game show “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” I will write all the questions n do auditions, I’ve asked a bunch of people what they think about the idea they were excited. I have a bunch of cool ideas planned to involve the community n some people offended to give money for prizes but I will see if they come thru with that. Let me know what you think

I have an idea that might fit this server: a Spelling Bee VC + text channel. I think it's a fun way to learn English and could add positively to the the stuff we do in 'Sesión de Lectura'. I wouldn't mind if we used those same channels though, but I'd like to see what everyone thinks. 🙂

1. remove 2person VCs since they aren’t used and with the instruction ‘Type &pv to create vc’ people can make VCs themselves
2. rename text channels so they are similar to the VC names. I’ve noticed that small groups sometimes still use the general session text channels or even the translation text channels (probably confused with the ending '...lectura #'). Lol idk if the Spanish diminutive would work for the names; I’ll leave that to you
3. add another text channel. If there is already a small group in VC and using session de lectura 3 text channel, another group in the other VC would clash in the same text channel and make things chaotic and confusing

I think I mentioned it a few days ago, but the reading and translation text channels should be directly above their corresponding voice channels.
It's a little tedious to find the name of the channel you're in, especially on mobile.
But it should be easy enough to find yourself, and click the channel right above you.

@elder drift I saw an experiment on reddit a few months ago and I have been thinking about it since then. In summary 20 players joined and there was very limited space in this Server (I think it was a 1000x1000 blocks) and the idea was to see how the players would react to this environment

The original experiment was in a Vanilla Minecraft Server, my idea is to do it in a server with a weapons mod giving the participants more power. In the original experiment the 1000x1000 area was completely destroyed after 2 weeks, I want to see how this world will end up with the addition of guns.

Spelling como sustantivo puede traducirse como ortografía (o por lo menos relativo a la ortografía) porque es implica deletrear o escribir correctamente e.g. That word has an incorrect spelling. Pero para el caso es lo mismo, el juego se conoce como Spelling Bee y aplica para inglés por el desfase que hay entre la pronunciación y la escritura. En español no veo tanto sentido en un concurso de deletreo con la dinámica del Spelling Bee la verdad (salvo por procurar acentos, tal vez...)

¿Tienen alguna opinión al respecto? ¿Podemos usar algún canal actual para hacerlo o creen que da para hacer uno propio? Lo más cercano en mi opinión es usar cualquiera de Sesión de lectura que esté libre para no interrumpir sesiones activas. Yo puedo organizarlo las primeras veces, sin fines adicionales más que aprendizaje y diversión. Tal vez inicialmente puede ser un rol en vez de un canal entero.

Supongo que se puede hacer al mismo tiempo alternando inglés y español dado que la persona anfitriona domine ambos (y no siempre podría ser así). Aun siendo en un solo idioma a la vez, no excluye que los nativos de tal idioma participen con grados de dificultad adecuados para ellxs. No lo imagino como 'el gran evento' sino como una actividad o juego recurrente y casual al estilo de Sesión de lectura, que cualquiera pueda empezar. Transmitir en lo que trabajan, charlar al respecto, aprender, enseñar, crear, básicamente para que puedan encontrarse en un voice ya que suelo ver gente que comparte dichas actividades pero desparramada por todo el servidor quizá en canales que no son para eso

Hice un test run ayer en uno de los canales de lectura y estuvo muy divertido. Participaron 11 personas, en total escucharon como 15. Funcionó para English y Spanish natives al mismo tiempo sin problema. Sí se necesita que alguien lo lleve y que tenga buena pronunciación (en inglés sobre todo) pero no es muy difícil si se condensa todo en un doc o un pinned message. Yo tenía un pdf y un spreadsheet para ayudarme. Después, si se adopta la práctica, puede evolucionar a tener un bot para ayudar a automatizarlo (ej. dar puntos, que pronuncie las palabras sin revelar su escritura, etc.)

Buenas, en otras ocasiones hemos hecho lectura libre de libros en storytime squad. En un principio teníamos un host nativo en ingles y nos uniamos a la lectura nativos de español. Hubo el problema la semana pasada de cómo nos quedamos solo nativos de español oriana nos tuvo que recordar las reglas del canal, (lectura de nativos). La idea de compartir un libro con la gente y hacer la lectura más activa al mismo tiempo que los no nativos puedan practicar por libre no tiene una sección específica. Así que ¿Sería posible una subsección en storytime o sesión de lectura para poder anunciar eventos de lectura libre en alguna de la dos secciones?

En el caso de Storytime fue creado con el propósito de que los textos sean leídos por nativos y que los aprendices puedan practicar el listening

Si se quiere leer a modo de práctica, eso le corresponde a la Sesión de Lectura, ya que ahí te dan la oportunidad de ser corregido

En el caso de leer aprendices, me parece que en ese caso hipotético, se tendría que enfatizar que están leyendo aprendices. Ya que si leen un libro entero, sería confuso para el que escucha, e incluso, quizá contraproducente

El interés sería el del compartir el leer un libro con la gente, el experimentar de manera activa la lectura con la gente y el cómo avanza la historia o el tema, y aprovechar los canales de textos para comentar sobre lo que va pasando.

Y para los que no sean nativos del idioma practicar si se ven más capaces de soltarse a leer una lectura libre, con correcciones más casuales sobre lo que significa algo en el canal de texto correspodiente (luego con correciones de pronunciación en el momento, si alguien se traba con algo). Practicar el idioma y ganar vocabulario de manera más casual, sin ir corregiendo una por una la pronunciación

Me parece que el interés es el mismo que en Storytime, se comparten libros, se lee, se escucha lo que va pasando y se sigue la historia, y se escucha a nativos leerla, lo cual hace que uno acostumbre el oído

creo que a lo que te referís vos, quizá sería mejor formar un grupo específico y crear canales temporáneos para hacer eso @robust fulcrum

y la gente se puede ir uniendo si se le dan las ganas

pero con un grupito de personas conocidas, es más fácil recibir correcciones precisas / que le queden bien a sus preferencias

más q nada, es una sesión de lectura, pero más larga y personalizada

y por eso se crearon más canales para las sesiones de lectura

Aclaro, en un comienzo era el poder leer por libre mientras aclaramos cosas de definiciones por texto o corregimos si la otra persona se traba, al mismo tiempo que ir compartiendo cosas de libro con la gente?. Como eso se salía de las especificaciones de sesión de lectur y storytime daba ese problema y de ahí que le lo planteara como subsección, para poder tener un canal de texto asociado a eso, sin confundir a lo que vienen a practicar la pronunciación o los que quieren oir a un nativo leer. Existe las limitación de la reading session por estar muy enfocada en la pronunciación y no tanto en la naturalidad al leer (tener otra cosa que practicar) y en storytime la de que los que no son nativos no puedan leer pese a ya tener soltura. No es tanto una cosa personalizada si no libre, pero vamos que puede que haya una mejor manera de abordar esto sin un subsección

Muy fácil, noté que primero ven algunas rondas y luego ya se animan a participar. Los English Natives se animan a español nivel 1-2 o a inglés de nivel 3 (doy a escoger entre 3 niveles de dificultad y con base en eso doy 1, 2 o 3 puntos) y eso también lo hace interesante porque también se equivocan, no son tan sencillas las palabras a veces jeje

Buenas, en otras ocasiones hemos hecho lectura libre de libros en storytime squad. En un principio teníamos un host nativo en ingles y nos uniamos a la lectura nativos de español. Hubo el problema la semana pasada de cómo nos quedamos solo nativos de español oriana nos tuvo que recordar las reglas del canal, (lectura de nativos). La idea de compartir un libro con la gente y hacer la lectura más activa al mismo tiempo que los no nativos puedan practicar por libre no tiene una sección específica. Así que ¿Sería posible una subsección en storytime o sesión de lectura para poder anunciar eventos de lectura libre en alguna de la dos secciones?

We make roles according to what our users are learning. If you are learning any of those dialects, you should suggest them.

I guess technically I am since I’m a heritage speaker of that specific dialect and that forms the basis of any future Spanish I learn (college Spanish) but I dunno if that would count

¿Es necesario avisarles a ustedes cada vez que vaya a compartir un servidor de Discord (lean lo que sigue)?

Hago esta pregunta porque hoy le compartí en #☕・general un servidor de Discord de build a pc a alguien que estaba buscando ayuda sobre componentes para su computadora, y un usuario me dijo que no comparta servidores sin previo permiso de los moderadores, lo cual me pareció algo inusual, porque ¿Por qué estaría prohibido compartir un recurso para que alguien responda su pregunta?

Diríamos que sí por el simple hecho de que así se mantiene algo controlado en vez de tener a cada uno compartiendo servidores como le apetezcan. Los únicos servidores para los que no pedimos que nos lo digas son los conocidos ya para aprender idiomas. Si no encuentras a ningún moderador en el momento en el que quieres compartir una invitación, por favor, hazlo por privado.

Aunque recuerda que mandando invitaciones no solicitadas a otros miembros por privado tampoco permitimos
