Vernio keeps having a generally teasing attitude without regard to whether he's offending people or not. Hello, I'm here to talk about advertising the Lingonauts community
(Disclaimer: I am not here on Lingonauts's behalf, and I do not represent Lingonauts or any of its volunteers)

Lingonauts is an in development app for language learning, with the goal of doing what Duolingo couldn't: provide a completely free education to anyone with a device

Lingonauts will not be making any profits off of its language courses, all features of the app will be completely free to all, and there will be zero ads in the app

The costs of creating and running the app are paid for by patreon supporters, however, every single person working on course creation is an unpaid volunteer

Which brings me to the advertising question:
The Spanish courses on Lingonauts, particularly Mexican dialects, are severely lacking in contributors, and, seeing as this is a server for learning Spanish and English, I was hoping to reach out to anyone who would like to volunteer to help teach Spanish on Lingonauts

The only requirements to volunteer are that you be 18+, fluent in Spanish (or any other language you would like to teach), and at least intermediate in English

I would like to, with the consent of moderation, use this server to help spread the word about Lingonauts to any and all who want to volunteer for the project

I'm going to add more context to what my colleagues are expressing. They have explained excellently, but if you are in need of more, I can do that.
So the other language channels were there to give people a place to use languages other than English or Spanish because at one point we had many people of other countries that spoke English and/or Spanish as a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. language. So to respect that, we had the other language threads open for people to converse in. However, those other language threads went unused for a long time, especially post COVID times, people have gone inactive due to requests to return to work or personal commitments.

The Staff Team here is asked to be fluent/comfortable in English and/or Spanish. It isn't a reasonable request to ask mods be fluent in other languages when our goal is to help people improve English/Spanish. So it is also for the sake of moderation that we have closed inactive other language threads. That being said, we have simply closed them due to both activity and for moderation purposes.

If we unlocked those channels, then that would be irresponsible on our end. If someone violated Discord TOS on our watch because it was in a language that none of us could mod in then the entire server moderation team would be in trouble with Discord.

Hey I tried creating a ticket and messaging the bot, but neither work. One of my friends that I've added on the server believes that they have been kicked or banned from the server for posting an english course link.

You'll need to check your messaging settings and allow dms from others. The bot won't work if your settings are a bit on the stricter side.

As for your friend, they can submit a ticket as well if they've received a link to the ban appeal server. They also receive a ban message from the bot if they were banned so that should hopefully clear up what may have happened.

If none of that works, let me know and I'll take a second look.
